Hello All

I have a question that has been bothering me and it has forced me to leave the sidelines and get into the game. In reading this forum i have learned about some awesome knives from spyderco (Mouse, Spyderco R). What I don't understand is that other places are selling these knives but I can't find them anywhere on the Spyderco page. Why ???

Why can't the Spyderco online catalogue list and display all knives that are available???

It seems odd that you have to learn of Spyderco knives from second sources. Help, I don't understand. I would love to add a Spyderco "R" but I don't know if this is an authentic Spyderco.

Hi Joeleo,
Welcome to the sharpside.
Many of the spyderco models, now more than ever are being discontinued or in the case of the "R" have been for quite some time. The mouse is a Tim Wegner design but is made by Spyderco. You can see Mr.Wegners site with other really nice designs att www.blade-tech.com
A lot of other Spyderco's especially the newer models haven't made it to the web page do to either limited production, sprint runs of various models.I'm not a Spyderco spokesman yet,but if a model is just in the test batch phase a.k.a.(temperace jr)it may never be considered for the site, until Sal hires me on to keep up on all these things all we spydernuts can do is wait.
Many umpteen hundred websites carry practically all spyderco models. But there are many dealers who frequent this forum and you should have no problem finding the model(s) you want. You'll want more trust me on this.
If you can,get the R model now. They are harder to find and just plain cool. It's a real spyderco,I would sit tight for a couple days,I'm sure between here,Bladeforums,knifeforums,e-bay you'll find one.Hope this helps

Hi JoeLeo,

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum.

There a quite a few new-old-stock models still available from dealers, not just the "R." If you check the History section of the Spyderco website (under Edge-U-Cation), you can see a complete listing of the models ever produced under the Spyderco brand. Any knife that is listed there but isn't in the catalogue is discontinued.

As far as adding new knives to the online catalogue, they are only listed once they are available to Spyderco dealers. Spyderco doesn't want to publically list knives before their dealers are able to provide them.

JoeLeo,

You make an excellent point and offer a good suggestion. Your frustration is shared by many, including dealers and distributors. It's tough to keep up.

Yes, it would be very helpfull if Spyderco could list all their knives and their respective status on the Spyderco site. Customers should not have to search or rely on other sites, such as Blade Forums, to get Spyderco information.

Spyderco products are popular, well made and well supported. That's probably why people are so interested in their history.

If you are looking for a C67 "R" we have them on discontinued closeout. Visit our site for price, etc.

i was just thinking how great i would be if there was a history page(s)just like the catolog with a photo of the knife and stats for all the knives ever produced that way it could be accessed and viewed. intrest might be stirred in what modles if any that could be brought back or up dated.

We plan to put up a museum next year in and around the outlet store. At that time, we'll have all of the old models and prototypes out of storage. That would be the time to bring in a photographer. (Maybe Spyderholic?) and shoot each model, each variation, and make up a poster showing each.

I hven't come up with another way. I imagine those pics could be put up on an archives site. just time and money, right?
