Well, I just saw Blackhair's thread about looking for the perfect way to carry his Swick, and it's funny because I had logged on determined to ask my own question about fixed blade carry  !

Who here EDC's a fixed blade knife?

I'm sure there are several of you that do, so I'd like to hear what you carry, and how you carry it.

I own a couple fixed blades, but I've just never made it a point to EDC one. I have in my collection a TOPS Tom Brown Tracker, a TOPS Tom Brown Tracker 2, an Ontario TAK-1, a BlackHawk Kalista, a Polkowski/Kasper Companion, and I used to have a Spyderco Ronin. Unless I am out backpacking, hiking, or something of the like, I never carry a fixed blade. I guess maybe this is just because I haven't found the right one, or possibly just the right (ie, comfortable) way to carry one.

So, let's hear your thoughts!

I love a good fixed blade....I always carry at least a few on my person...I guess you could say I carry a fixed blade like most carry a folder...Today's Edc fixed blades was a SOG "Field Pup" on my strong side hip, a Spyderco "Ronin" crossdraw on the left hip, a CLB Boker MTP in my back left pocket, a Boker Subcom FB in my outer Coat pocket, a CS "Urban Dart" in the small of my back a Darell Ralph "Arclite Cuda" CE around the neck, and a Lightfoot Timberline "Mini Pit Bull" clipped upside down from my inside pocket of my outer coat (like a shoulder holster position) on the left side...In the past I have carried fixed blades where ever one could possibly carry one, IWB, Belt Carry, Boot Carry, Ankle Carry, Neck Carry, Collar Carry, Belt Carry with Static Cords, Inside pockets, with modified Static Cords, Groin carry in specialized holsters and sheaths, sometimes freely in Pocket Carry without the sheath being tied down, where a push of the thumb releases the sheath from the knife on draw,or by making the sheath act like a wave and even sometimes taped to a forearm or other parts of my body, Inside winter gloves and hat bands if small enough...the possibilties are endless...you just have to get creative.....Doc:D

While on Duty I have a Ka-bar TDI PE (in ankle holster) on the left ankle. I carry the CLB MPT on the shoulder strap of my patrol backpack.

Ronin on My TacVest.

Off-Duty I carry the CS "Urban Dart" in backpack and a TOPS "Shadow Tracker".

Take Good Care and Be Safe Always.

God Bless :)

Howdy Jim,

Yes, it's been some time since I've been around here. Kinda got lost in the Strider thing for awhile  . Knew I'd come back to the Spyder world before long though!

That wouldn't be my old Ronin you carry once in awhile would it? :D

hi firefighter,
carry methods is one of my favorite topics, glad you posted this!
I have a Spot and a Swick that I've carried as neckers. With the Swick I've put paracord around the kydex sheath with knots to retain in the front pocket, that's a method Doc S. posted on a couple months back that I'll be experimenting with...if worn with snug jeans the idea is to retain the sheath in pocket when u draw the knife.

Have a couple other fixed blades as well, like Ronin, SOG Mini Pent, Kabar LDK...have yet to play around with these, I think I'll try boot carry next...now all I need is a pair of boots LOL! :D

On duty I have a fixed blade diver style knife on my bunkers. It is easy to get to with gloves on, however it has things about it that I would change. I think a FB is a great idea for those of us who need to be able draw a knife and not worry about opening it-esp when wearing fire gloves.

FB01 (1st gen) in O/ST kydex, iwb/rear with a 30deg cant to right... maybe in it's factory leather for dress carry.
Leavitt twins go right and left hips up front... CKE twins go IWB/Rear/cant right behind my hips, CKE bowie goes vertical (tip down) behind my right hip

Never mind the other selection of fixed blades that get carried... horizontal/rear to right or left, horizontal/front/left to left, or clipped to vest or lanyard.

usually if I carry one, it's the CKE warnie on horizontal/front/left, CKE shop knife hanging clipped to vest, or FB01 in it's usual spot.

I often carry a fixed-blade. Most of the time, it's a Strider WP spearpoint. I like the strength and rapid deployment of fixed blades.

I just carry a boot knife--a Busse Fusion Battle Mistress. In my boot.

I don't carry the SPOT all the time, but when I do it is horizontal on my belt set up for strong-hand cross draw.
