After more than a year of fruitless bidding, I finally picked up a used C25 – my nemesis :) But now the search is over (unless a NIB one turns up at a decent price of course), and I have both the C25 and the C50 in G10 as part of my collection. Very very happy
Here they are:

P.S. I've since changed the clip on C25 to a smaller black one, which I prefer, but which does not look as good in photos. Also, it seems that the spyder plate has fallen out in the past and was glued on upside down by the previous owner ... it fell out again, and I've glued it in place correctly this time :) Anyway, what an awesome pair of knives!!!

It's an extra backup "lock" of some sort. I'm not sure how strong it is though, but it's a nice feature.
I too have been looking for a G-10 C25 with no luck as of yet ! New or used.
The secondary lock is called a "Centafonte SecurLok "
Congratulations on your find , a very nice pair!

those pair look REALLY cool, and sharp. But I can't help myself to wonder how practical were these knives when they first came out, I mean there is no jimping, choil nor a notch to stop you fingers from slipping onto the sharp blade

Nice to see someone else with a passion for these models. As a pair I think they're hard to beat.

All of the centofante line will make great additions to anyones Spyderco- collection IMHO. The C25 and C50 in G-10 are the top though :-)
Nice additions!

Congrats on your new Spydie. The C25 is one of my favs and I find no problem with the lack of jimping or contours for your fingers because the G-10seems textured enough to provide a good grip for most tasks, although I never would consider this or the C50 to be a "hard use" knife.
I have a question about the blade markings. I see by the photos that olorin15's new peice has "ATS-34" and "Golden, Colorado" on one side of the blade opposite the clip. I have a C-25 PL that has no blade markings at all, nothing, nada. No steel type, no city of origin, no serial number or anything.
My other C-25, which is serrated, has "ATS-34" and the serial number on one side and "Golden, Colorado" on the clip side, again different from the photos shown here.
Altough my plain edge version is blank, it looks new and unused. I first thought that I may have gotten a counterfit knife, but if that's the case, I'll take more because it is otherwise perfect. Anyone know about these variations?

Tech a Billy - I've not seen, either in person or in pictures, a C25 with a blade that was totally sterile as you describe. Someone else here with more experience collecting may know something, but it's a mystery to me. Do you recall where/when you got it?
olorin15 - In appreciation of some friendly jealousy, here's a somewhat better picture of the Centofantes. :)

I have been looking for one of those as well. To be honest, I dont really want one, I just want to understand the design behind the knife. Thats the same reason I picked up a Dodo. Course After holding it, the Dodo ended up in my pocket and its one of my favorite knives. Maybe this one will be to.

Very nice ones olorin:cool:
It appears from your picture that the handles are somewhat whity/dried out.
If you rub the G10 with a cloth with Ballistol the handles will look close to new. Just a thought:o

Would Tuf Cloth work as well? I did not realize these could clean G10 handles as well as protect the metal parts.

hey olorin15, congrats on the Centofante's....
Tuf Cloth might work but you'd "waste" a lot of the Tuf Glide on those G-10 handles..... I got great results "rehydrating" my G-10 handles with Mineral Oil... ;)

I'm new to the boards, and practically new to Spyderco. Last year, my first Spydie was a Wayne Goddard designed Endura plain edge with grey FRN handle. For $55 I couldn't complain, and it looks pretty damn cool, let alone the VG-10 blade and killer edge.
Then I ended up in Golden, CO with a day off work. I headed to the Factory Store. Bought a Golden Native plain edge and a Tenacious plain edge as well as a few Byrds. Best of all, I was helped out by Ms. Glesser! WHAT A PATRIOT! As an Army soldier, I was so flattered by her patriotism and sense of duty to her country and countrymen.
I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER BRAND OF KNIFE! Pieces of the WTC, knives made for soldiers, products made for and by Americans were on display everywhere. I've never felt so proud to own an American made product.
A few days later, I found myself in Longmont, outside of Boulder. In the Twin Peaks Mall, in Naked Edge Cutlery, I found a Centofante C-25. $100, new in box. UNREAL! Sweet EDC, but I'm putting it away in the drawer. I'd rather carry my Tenacious or Native.
Next purchase, an auto! ;)
Thank you Spyerco for supporting all we do!

When i was in Germany i went to... BOKER BAUMWERK SOLINGEN... and they had one or 2 of these models. I asked to see it from the disply case , it was nice.
Not sure of the price. But remeber the knives.

I found it in a box of assorted knives at the back of a booth at the 2007 Seki cutlery festival. Got a great deal. Now it's my most often carried EDC knife. It's so slim, you can carry it in any pocket, great edge retention, excellent lock, relatively unintimidating to NKP, it's within legal limits here, and it easily transitions from jeans to suit pocket. I generally don't need a hard-use knife and if I do, I'll grab a bigger Spydie. ;)

And with a couple of others I sometimes carry...

i cant tell wether i have the smaller one of the bigger one, im kinda leaning toward the smaller one, it also is CC numbered with a black clip also with the gold emblem but serrated i think? i have all my knives away in boxes right now so i cant view them frequently
are these rare ones to find ?
I have a C50 and a C50S. I love the design. The C50 remains NIB, but the C50S is an EDC. The problem with this knife is that the liner lock does not engage securely and the secondary slide lock on the handle does not feel all that solid. I was carrying the C50S as recently as last week and was again struck by the very weak engagement of the liner lock. I think that this is why this knife is more of a collectors knife than a popular EDC.
The C50 was made in ATS-34, which is a very nice steel for a pocket knife. The blades are quite unusual in terms of shape and that they were flat grinds (unusual for their vintage anyway).
Bottom line: great aesthetics and poor execution--but I love spyderco for trying new things and this is one of them. I bought a T-mag, too :)

I'm surprised at this. Mine locks up rock-solid.

The C-50 & C-25 Centofante model Spyders are 2 of my all time sentimental favorites. They are so close to one of top 5 knife designs of all time. And that being the Phil Boguszewski Spike model. I do like the thicker spine on the Spike a little better.
This really makes me sad because when I was in my financial rut my 2 C-50 models were ones I had to sell to make ends meet. I have faith that I'll find replacements someday but it was very agonizing losing my 2 C-50s. The ones I had were Golden CO models too which made it that much more painful.
But on the other hand it really makes me appreciate what I do have just that much more and it really makes me reflect as to how great of designs these C-50s were.
