I know it's to much to ask but I wish the Police and Civilian was just an 1/8 inch shorter. I live in Tennessee and the maximum legal blade length is 4". I carried a Police (against my better judgement) for a couple of years without a problem. Just lucky I guess. In an attempt to stay legal I have retired rhe police model.
I have come sooooo close to ordering the Civilian. The reason I have not ordered it is because the temptation to carry it would overrule my better judgement. I have a Matriarch but it is not a Civilian. Those that love this design know what I'm talking about. It appears that I'm going to have to move to another state to satisfy my knife obsession:eek: I can really sympathize with forumites limited to 3" blade length.
No questions here.....just expressing a rant!
You should try to find a big Calypso. I have been carrying one for about a week and love it. Light weight, 4" blade, low rider clip--perfect.

C54 is about like trying to find a PE Lil Temp. That's on my list also. Maybe the Mule will satisfy my Lil Temp cravings.
Nothing gets my blood flowing (pun intended) like the Civilian though.

You might consider having the tip of your Police reprofiled to shorten it just enough to make it legal. As for the Civilian, best bet would be to find a Matriarch, it's blade is about 3.5", so you'd be well below the limit.
Edited to add: Or go the "Department of Dirty Tricks" route and get someone to make you a pair of custom scales for a Civie with an exta 1/4" ahead of the pivot - effectively shortening the blade.

Does your state also have "knife as a weapon" laws? I know in Florida there's no size limit but rather vague wording about it being illegal to carry any knife that's a weapon. Even if under 4" I'd worry about carrying a Civi due to it's obviously highly aggressive appearance. It's meant to threaten and it's meant to maim.

Send it to Tom Krein and he will do a great job getting it down to length.

Send it to Tom Krein and he will do a great job getting it down to length.Am sure Tom could do a superb job of trimming the Police down under 4 inches. But don't think even he could trim down a Civilian without seriously reducing the "hook" at the tip, and thus impairing its slashing power.

Should of clarified by saying the Police model only.

Be very careful about what the law is. I love in conencticut and i carry a Manix and a Civilian every day. I feel very confident that no one is going to confiscate them because the law states "no knife with an edged portion exceeding 4 inches" and the EDGED part of the civilian is 3 3/4 inches. so measure your knives eliminating the kick and they might be legal :)

Here in Colorado it's 3.5 inches--wish they would move it up to 4 inches.
