A local store just received a Scorpious in,from a backorder.
What are anyone's views on this model Spydie?how does it perform?

Very good knife, you can get them extremely sharp, due to the thin hollow grind. Maybe a bit strange looking handle, but fits the hand quite nicely. The opening and closing is very easy due to the big +-14 mm? hole. I got mine pretty cheap, definetly worth a look.

I guess I kinda see it as a SS native built for bigger hands. I traded a FRN native for one, and I rather like its belly and grip, but it just doesn't seem as comfortable to hold as the native did.
But when it comes down to it, it's about the same price as a delica SS, but I'd much rather have the Scorpius. It fits my hands better, has a better cutting blade (IMHO because of the belly), a finer point, and a bit more style in the handle.
I bought a Scorpius a while back--kind of an impulse buy. I think that its a fine knife but quite unusual in terms of ergonomics. I carried it a few times but I don't anymore. My favorites in that size range are the Delica and Mini Persian. I have large hands and the tail on the handle never sat right for me.

I do not own a personal Scorpius, (I have a bunch of them in the store) but I love the way they handle. I am an Endura person, and the feel is similar when holding it. I would own several if it weren't for the swedge on the blade. For some reason, I just don't like a swedge on the top of blades. Great knife though, and an excellent cutter. Might need to call STR to do a fix-it job on that swedge!!

I have owned two of them and I got rid of both.
I just cannot get past how badly the thing looks like a dolphin. I had the model with the "dolphin eye" lanyard hole. I loved the blade but I disliked the handle. I also didn't care for how part of the hole was covered by the handle when closed.
If it was G10 handled, didn't have the dolphin nose, and had the entire hole exposed when closed, I would buy a few. ;)
I think it's pretty neat, I like to view it like this,
Delica + Yojimbo = Scorpius

:spyder: I see the blade as a combo of the native + persian. :spyder:

I think the ergonomics of the handle of this knife, for seriously underrated. I think it is a daring and incredibly well thought-out handled, I wish it were g 10 or possibly lined frn even with the deep contours, this knife is a slight bit lacking, in grip. for the tasks I pull out my. only:eek: serrated folder, and as I think about it the only, serrated knife excluding steak knives and my bread knife in the house him, I like he is a serrated blade for cutting open 5 gallon plant containers thick black things that big plants come in. or occasionally cutting a palm branch. but both of these things are actually better done with, a pair of garden shears. it's not as fun.

I believe the Scorpius fits larger sized hands best (i wear glovesize 7 1/2) .....it's "aggressive" styling is what attracted it to me but I'm guessing it's not the most NKP-friendly blade out there...

I do not currently own one, but had one in the past and loved it. It is an excellent slicer and fits the hand well for an all stainless knife. My friend who now owns my Scorpius carries it everyday.

i'm a big fan of the scorpius... i had two, but lost one in a cab ride in zambia. the SS handle is indeed slippery, and perhaps not ideal for the SD applications the blade was designed for... but i love the ergonomics (which make up for at least some of the handle's slippiness), and the blade is thin, wicked, and a great performer.
if it were done in G10 with a compression lock, i believe it would be right up there with the lil' temp and the yojimbo...
how about just a simple FRN handle?
that would tickle my fancy

:spyder: Whenever you say the word "scorpius" it's important to say it in a Sean Connery James Bond accent. :spyder:

So.... you got me.
I just ordered a PE Scorpious.
I never paid this model too much attention, just as other fellows here, there were always more interesting :spyder: to get.
Since it is disco'ed, I decided to trust some of you who assured that you need to hold and use one to appreciate it.
I tried to get one with the "dolphin head" and the lanyard hole as the "eye" since it looks so cool, but I got one with the hole at the end. No problem.
So, when I get it I will EDC the knife and see what the Scorpious is all about.

I love my Scorpius. I've had it about 2 years. EDC'd it for awhile, but that para millie type, huge, shiny in your face, out of pocket profile (hey everyone I'm carrying a knife in my pocket!!!) just killed me. I Deacon'd it (remove clip carry in back right pocket) and rotate it with my 2 Stretch's. Works good.
Thin hollow grind and a handle grip that melts into your hand makes for a real good cutter. I love the handle. Give it a full flat grind and CalyIII pocket clip and it would never live my pocket. Bummer its been disco'd. I'll never part with the one I have.

Got mine this morning. It's all steel construction gives it some weight, but it doesn't feel heavy to the point of being cumbersome. The extended handle feels great in the hand, but the design of the clip combined with that extended handle makes tip up carry a little tricky if you're in an area where discreet carry is needed.
Overall, i think it's a very well executed design, the one downside being that the clip doesn't really fit the handle design properly. If it did, the knife would be perfect. As it stands, it's pretty close.

I think the Scorpius is an excellent utility folder, very keen slicer and versatile ergonomic handle. I only wish it came with a four-way clip option. Otherwise, a perfect ss folder.

I got one two weeks ago from my wife as brthday present!
She knows NOTHING about knives, but ... knows SPYDERCO!!!!!!!
Before I really hate Scorpius, I never had an idea to get one.
After I unpacked from the box, it was a nice suprise. Despite of I have big palms this knife fits well.
We can talk about materials and etc, BUT no doubt: it is a jewel (and also a really good knife, with high performance materials, and outstanding design:D :D :D :D :D :D )
In the last some day I fell in love with it, really sad that it will be discontinnued.
