Hey guys, how are ya? I was wondering if you could tell me how much the gun metal blue, straight edge chinese folders go for? I found a Centofante C50 and now I want the Blue Lum. Thanks guys!

All I can say is best of luck finding one! Seems that the opportunity to buy a blue Lum chinese is rarer than the knife itself! People just don't let go of them very often.

Black Lum Chinese will be released in a couple of months time. I will be grabbing a few of them for the family if I can afford that many :)
I have the green one which took me a long time to find and afford. The Blue one isa rare beast indeed and they come up for sale occasionally. More often than not it pays to check out BF or speak to other esteemed members here.
Cheers
Dan
Good luck on that find as that is a rare animal indeed. As far as prices, I imagine they will be fairly steep as this is pretty much a collectors item.

:spyder: Why hold out, try and get a cranberry Chinese instead of one of those vulgar common blue Chinese Lums! :spyder:

Anybody have a "best guess" regarding price of one of these (new)?
Although I am sure it will be expensive they do look very nice.:D

have $400 ready (might be able to snag one for a bit less -- especially if its been a user -- but who knows), and be prepared to be on constant ebay alert for a little while. your best bet is going to be finding one that goes up with a buy it now price. keep checking new listings once or twice daily.
i had and carried one for a while... paid $60 (heh, heh!) for one that had been a user... i used it for a while, sold it for about $200 on the 'bay, and thought i'd made off like a bandit... probably could have done better if i'd hung onto it. had a green PE lum chinese i landed for about $100, too... carried that for a while, and sold it for about $160.
hope that helps!
its an amazing knife... my problem is, i always end up getting greedy and selling them...
is the ZDP lum still a future possibility?

anybody have any idea how many PE blue chinese were made? How about cranberry? Deacon one time stated $200to 300 for the blue lum. Like anything else timing and luck is a factor. Good luck wicked west. Joe

I wasn't very specific. Does anybody have a good idea of what one of the Black Chinese Lum's will cost new?
I think I read somewhere that they will probably be $200+. This fits given the anticipation and "buzz" surrounding this model. The prices of older models is definitely out of my range, and the new one probably would be too.
Black ZDP will be $200 MSRP, expect $125-135 street, but probably most of them pre-ordered already. Still, I think it will be possible to buy from dealers without paying crazy e-bay prices.

Thanks for the info. To "pre-order" are you guys typically just calling up your favorite online/brick and mortar store and inquiring if it is available for pre-order? I wondered about this knife and could not find it listed on NGK or Knifecenter.

mine was with emergency options...and i dont see it there anymore. sorry. my suggestion is to call around.
I pre-ordered mine about 18 months ago.
When I talked to NGK last time, they had over 200 people on their list, so i would try less known/ popular dealer.
P.S. If you will think about placing order or pre-order with unknown dealer, it is probably not bad idea to search "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" section of bladeforums for refrrences.
good luck

Tony - thanks for the info. The Lum Chinese is nowhere near my current budget I just wondered about the pre-order process for future reference. Congrats, that is a beautiful knife. Feel free to post some photo's once you get that beauty in hand:D

BH - thats good advice as well. Even if it was in the budget I think I came to the party a little late. The nice part about that is that Spyderco will continue to produce beautiful functional knives. It certainly doesnt look like any of us will run out of Spydies to lust after.

will do..i cant wait. i have a green serrated one (they were still available when i got into collecting:spyder:'s) but IMO the chinese lum just screams out for a plain edge, plus i like the blue color alot.

Unsure on the blue, but I heard that the number of PE cranberry Lums can be counted on one hand. Quite possibly one that's lost a few fingers, too.

The chance of having a Cranberry Lum are Slim and None! Taz has said there were only two or so made. There was a member that had one and I offered 1000.00 and there still wasn't an interest on his part. As far as I know Felly has the most complete Bob Lum collaberation I've ever seen.
