what do you think about the calypso sr.? great price, if you can find one, but as my friend chris (Vlf_11) pointed out to me at school yesterday, all they truly are is an endura with bigger balls. i feel, that if you want a unique knife, get the calypso Jr.

The Sr. is mighty bold. In black Micarta it is also elegant. Get one!

I have both of the Large Calypso's ,serr & plain, and find them to
very impressive knives. They are as close to razor on steriods as I've
ever seen. Light strong and ,oh buddy, very sharp.

I don't carry mine often as they are so very hard to find. But when I
go out one of them will go with me. If the need should arise the loud
"SNICK" when it opens and the gleam of the 4" blade will give pause
to anyone with funny ideas.

That would be VG-10 steel in the Calypso Sr.

I got bitten by the claypso bug and my mom got me a calypso jr. ltwtpe for Christmas. I think it the sharpest spydie I have out of the box. That and the moran drop point I bought my dad. VG-10 is my new favorite steel, it and CPM440V. Knocks the socks off of aus 6 and ats55.

One important difference is that the large Calypsos are flat ground, whereas the Enduras are hollow ground.
This makes the Calypso excellent for tough heavy cutting, as well as general food preparation.
