I just received my Micarta Dyad (along with 3 other Spydies) and the finish on the Micarta is a little "dry" looking. Does anyone know of a polish or something to condition the Micarta? I don't want to make the knife slippery. I'm not that much concerned with the looks, just thought I'd try and improve the looks.

That sounds funny <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Water helps dryness... but I dunno what to tell you..I just wanted to say that the above sentence sounds funny <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Hoosierdaddy,

Have you tried some kind of oil? 3-in-1 or even kitchen oil (olive oil, vegetable oil, etc.) by applying it with a cotton ball and leaving it on for a while? I have no idea if this will work, but it won't hurt the knife to try. I know what you mean, Micarta should look a bit shiny.

Good luck!

HD,
The Viele (newer ones) have the front side micarta polished and the back side micarta is dull. Sounds like your the Diad is just like mine! That is just the way they are. Good ole buffing compound on a wheel ought to do it, but I like my Spydies the way they were made. I guess some models are shiney Micarta and others not. I'm guessing your knife is normal, if that is why you were concrerned to begin with. Did you try Kahz' method? You may also want to try good ole carnuba paste wax and a buffing cloth(elbow grease) if it really bothers you. Nice batch of knifes you got last week BTW.Perhaps someone at Golden will guide you on the Diad.

Kahz,

Thanks for the ideas! Thought about oil but didn't want knife to be slick. Maybe I'll try a small test patch area and see.

One side of the Dyad just doesn't match the other. They are both the same finish, one side just looks drier than the other. I'm stoked about the new knives, haven't bought any Spydies (aside from the Herbst ti) in over a year. Do you (or anyone) know of the legality of the Civie for carrying. It might be an EDC with a few other Spydies as well. Glad to hear news of your collector club #, congratulations. Saw a Spydie on e-bay that was # 104, of by one for you. Will always be on the lookout for you (103)!!! Thanks for the info.
