Wow... what the heck is up with the packaging all of a sudden?! Opening my Granddaughter's iDog was crazy. I used my Salt 1 ( very sharp ) but that clamshell packaging, or whatever they call it is just retarded - 2 layers even! So now after that schmozz, and after various excellent threads here, I've got to get a Cricket. I can totally see it's benefits now. Which one should I get though - PE or SE? Please help me out.

- best wishes, Jazz.

Get one of each. The SE just rips through anything and 'grips' things just a bit better, then shreds it to pieces. For cleaner cuts a PE will do. The SE works wonder on slippery stuff though.... like plastic clamshell packs :)

Cheers

I have both but I like the SE better on the Cricket. BTW the Cricket eats clamshells for lunch:D

Thanks a lot, guys. I still can't decide, but definately know I need one now. Seriously, what a cool-looking knife, and SO original! I don't know why it took me so long to see it's merits, but I need one. Sal, this here forum of yours definately sells knives - please keep it up.

- best wishes, Jazz.

I have had both, and prefer the PE. IMHO, you need over 3 inches to get the best from serrations. But again that is my opinion. That being said, the Reverse "S" blade of the Cricket works well with the SE too. My PE was vicious, and handled anything you threw at it.

i vote for serrated, it maximizes your edge length ;)

I prefer the PE, simply because I have a hard time making a straight cut with a chisel ground edge. Especially on a blade too short to effectively use a sawing motion. But that's just me. The obvious solution is to get one of each and see which works best for you.

I got a SE SS Cricket for Xmas and I absolutely love it. I find that the serrations fit the blade size and shape very well. However, I'd also recommend you look at the Spin Etched. It's quite a great knife. Getting both is always the answer...:D
