Just how sharp are they???

I am expecting my first spyderco, a military, any day now, and I was wondering how sharp I should expect the blade to be. Will it compare to my cold steel recon tanto, which can easily shave hair? I hope so with all the positive news I have heard.

Sharp? Extremely. Right out of the box.

High Quality? Hands down, the best you'll find, anywhere. Period.

I've had a few Cold Steel products. They've come and gone. My serrated Delica outlasted them all. Considering that you bought one of Spyderco's top of the line knives, I would expect it to easily outlast your recon tanto.

I've not had a Spydie yet (and I've got a few <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> ) that couldn't shave arm hair straight from the box.

To expound on the Spyderlore:
Quality- Best of the Best. Period. My Endura is more secure with the lock totally disengaged than some knives with lock engaged.

Edge- Scalpel, anyone? A Spyderco out of the box will shave hair easily, and keep doing so after extensive use.

Overall- Great knives, good prices, customer service and support second to NONE. You may buy other knives, but once the Spyderbug bites you, you'll never go back! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
