AET

The third picture looks like it has lost a bit of the tip and been resharpened. Weird. I'm only going by all the other pictures that look like they have more of a tip.

Also, since it's 1:34 AM anything that I type may make absolutely no sense whatsoever. ;)

To bad there is no lefty cricket... Reversed construction I mean for lefties.

AJ, assuming you mean the web engraved one, there is no "release date", per-se, for them or for web engraved specimens of any other metal handled Spyderco. It is simply an embellishment Spyderco offers, for a fee, and has offered for some time. It may very well pre-date the stainless version of the Cricket, as I could swear I've seen at least one aluminum one sporting it. But that could also have been sent back to Spyderco more recently and engraved. You could order a stainless Cricket that way from SFO today if you were so inclined. Dealers will occasionally order small quantities of them. For a while there was one particular dealer who would order perhaps a dozen each of just about every all stainless Spyderco in production at the time, and auction them off on eBay. That dealer disappeared a year or so ago, and nobody else has filled the void.

hi aj1985, TheDeacon is "spot on" (as usual :) )....
I scored the engraved cricket back in 2006 from an evilbay seller named "razorsharpknife" who I think had an internet store called Sawyer's Cutlery....
I have no clue if he's still around... I recall that back then there were other SS models with the same engraving like SS Delicas and Dragonlflys.

Think Sawyers is a brick & mortar as well as selling online. Believe they're still in business, just not carrying Spyderco, or any knives except kitchen knives anymore. Never did learn what happened there.

Yes again on the variety. The all stainless Kiwi was the only all stainless model in production at that time which I never saw them auctioning engraved. Speaking of Kiwis, I did act as middleman helping another type of Kiwi ;) :D acquire engraved examples of the three Police edge configurations from them as they did not do international shipping. I also had Scorpius I purchased from them for a while, one of the few Spydies I've sold.

Edited to add: and to keep this from being a total hi-jack, here are a few of my favorite Crickets. Scrimmed Elk Antler by an unknown artist (there are two intials on it, which appear to be RM)...

Giraffe bone, and mucho filework on an aluminum one, by Frank Recupero...

Birdseye Maple and filework on an all stainless one, not sure who did this one, might have been Vasilli of Vess Collectibles...
