Long term storage

Maybe Sal can answer this.

Will the spring on a lockback relax over a long period of storage time. Lets say 10 years or so unused? Will the knife still have "life" as if it were right off the line? I have a few Buck knives that are well over the 30 yr mark. The lock springs are considerably weaker but they have been used to death. What about the ones that sit around for 30 untouched? Just a thought I've been tossing around.

I can't tell you about any that have sat around for that long without being touched, but I do have lockbacks that I have had for 30 years that the springs are just as strong as when I bought them. Some have been used little, some a lot. Only had a few that I have noticed seem weaker, but they were beaters that got used really hard.
