View Full Version : Am I feeling guilty for nothing?

One of the kids at work showed me his CPM440V FRN Spyderco Native. It was dull, the pocket clip was all scratched up and it smelled like PEANUT BUTTER!!!!

I offered him $20 for the poor, abused object of our affection, which he accepted.

I have resharpened it, replaced the clip, cleaned and applied Tuf-glide to "her".

The dilemma - did I do the RIGHT thing by saving "her" from future neglect & abuse,& continued unappreciated ambivalence?

I feel guilty that I may have taken advantage of an unsuspecting person!!!

What say all of you??

Anybody that would abuse a knife like that and would let such a good knife get in that condition doesnt deserve to have it, it amazes what people will do to thier gear and expect it to work. You where right to do what you did the sad thing is the guy probably thought he got the best of you. Thats how i got a cold steel SRK for 10.00 the guy just didnt know what he had.

Of course you did the right thing - there's nothing to be ashamed of. The way I see it, those who abuse their tools don't deserve them anyway. If I were you, I'd have done the same thing.

A purebred dog might cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. But if the owner neglects it and it ends up in a shelter, the adoption fee usually isn't much more than the cost of a license. Well done.
