I know that this is getting away from the subject, but, does anyone own, know someone who does own, a Frosty?

Pic please, never seen one? Is it some kind of rip off of a Spydie? By the name it sounds like it is a Harpy/Merlin rip off

And in other news I think my Merlin is screwed up, it doesn't seem to wanna get sharp

I don't have any pics but find out when HSN has a knife show, they usually have it in their line somewhere.

Ahh then yes I have seen it, the one I saw on HSN had a yellow blade and was a complete Merlin rip-off, oh wait everything they have on those shows are Spydie rip offs..

IS that what you are talking about?

What are you using to sharpen your
"Merlin" ? And, might I point out that
with a serrated knife you wouldn't
sharpen both sides of the blade. The
best fall backs I can recommend to you
KrazieKurtis is to: 1.) get yourself a
Tri-Seps diamond hone and scrape, scrape,
scrape ! or 2.) Send your "Merlin" to
Spyderco for a complimentary sharpening.

Have Spydies, Will travel !
( just not on board the plane ! )

Merry Xmas, Kurtis !

A.E.T.

P.S. ;
No a "Frosty" is NOT a Spydie "rip-
-off"; I don't think that they are that
patently ( no pun intended Sal! ) stupid !

Merry Xmas to ALL and to ALL a good
night !!

No it's not serrated it's plain edge. I know how to sharpen them because I have watched the 204 video three times. My Merlin just seems to be difficult in sharpening.

Thanks for the correction on the Frosty, but surely you must know what I am talking about on HSN if you ever watch the knife shows ?

The Eagle Eye your thinking of isn't the one I am. The one that I'm talking about, while seemingly familiar to the Spyder Hole, has a 4" to 5" blade and bears a passing resemblance to the Endura, black handle, stainless clip, etc.

Ahh now I know what you are talking about, I used to own one of those before I knew about Spyderco knives, the hole is kinda a triangle type shape?

Ya man!
How did it's edge hold, my bro insists on having one of them, instead of a Spydie, while I'm trying to convince him to see the light, he's as stubborn as I am about this stuff.

The one I had, had a very cheap lock. I could close it with two hands with no force at all pretty much, I didn't even have to to touch the lock

He gets the Delica then.
I'm not going to pay thirty bucks for something that's going to break in a week.

I sent them feedback using the form on their site. I told them that they may be the fastest growing cutlery company in the world but that doesn't mean quality and originality are growing with them. I said other things among that but that was the main point.

I mentioned that Spyderco was the better and would always be also

Maybe now they'll get the quality product on the air and quit using cheap crap.
What do ya think Sal, Ryan?

My opinion.....let them manufacture their cheap imitations. They make a quick $20 and in the long run, the customer comes to us and buys a good quality knife anyway. Besides, chances are they either paid us for the design, or we are in litigation with them. You get what you pay for....consumer beware.

"Imatation is the sincerest form of flattery"

Who can blame them for copying the best damn knives around! It's funny you get these cheesey copies that fall apart. I've seen a bunch of them, they are all a joke! It's like buying a Yugo, spend a little more money and get the real thing!
I don't mean to offend Yugo owners, so please don't write me!

My only complaint in other companies using the Spyderhole design is that the uneducated public confuses them, and beleives Spyderco are overpriced poor performers based on a piece that isn't made by Spyderco. I can't tell you the number of times that people have come in and said "$70! I got mine for $12!" Then when they whip it out, I have to tell them they bought a Chinese copy and that its crap in comparison. Same thing happens with Chinese copies of Swiss Army knives

Its all fun and games til somebody loses an eye, then its fun and games you can't see.

Once at a gun show I saw a dealer who had taken the plastic thumb studs out of his Eagle Delica/Endura knockoffs so there were tiny opening holes, obviously hoping to fool buyers into thinking they were real Spyderco knives.

I also have a problem with knockoffs because they give the real product a poor reputation among less knowledgeable buyers. They get a knockoff, its performance and overall quality are poor; then they see a real Delica/Endura and think it, too, must be a POS because to them they all look the same.

Argh...knockoffs. Some are so obvious that even an unlearned fool should notice something is amiss!

Also, who on Earth would want 12 of the same exact knife? I can understand 2, for a spare, or 3 for a person who can't stop losing them, but 12???

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Brian

Their explanation for selling twelve is that you have extras to give to friends for Christmas, birthdays, etc.
My opinion? They send you twelve because they know it's going to break, and you replace it with one of the others, whether plain or serrated, so that you think that you get a good deal on replacements.

"Sharp is as sharp does."

Hi Brian. I believe that every knife company in the world today has copied at least one of Spyderco's features.

Try to keep in mind that 12 Geos do not a Ferrari make, even all added up together.

Some companies try to make good products. Most companies just try to make money....your money.

When you hear the term "for the price", you have to assume inferior quality, IMO.
