I just got my Mini-Manix last night, and I am impressed! :D
I manged to snag one of these in one of those "It's discontinued, I should get one" purchases. You know, the dangerous ones. :p
When it arrived, I was stunned the moment I picked up the box. That thing is heavy! When I pulled it out of the box, I thought for a moment that there had
been a mix-up, and that I had gotten the Manix! It was only when I compared it to my Caly3 that I was assured of its identity (if the Mini-Manix is that big, how huge is the Manix?! )
Everything that people have said is true. This knife is solid! If the Caly3 is a Porsche, then the Mini-Manix is a Humvee (and when I say Humvee, I mean the military version, not the sissy civilian version :p ).
I haven't gotten a chance to do any real testing yet, but I have confidence that the Mini-Manix will take pretty much whatever I throw at it. I plan to use it as a replacement for my Caly3 when I go camping.
In the same way that the Caly3 just exudes ergonomics and smoothness, the Mini-Manix is the essence of toughness and reliability. You can just feel it the moment you pick up the knife.
The full-flat grind makes this knife a devil of a slicer; and even though it does have a thicker blade, and isn't quite as sharp as the Caly3, it's still shaving-sharp, and can easily push-cut paper.
For anyone undecided on this knife, get one! You won't be disappointed. ;)
The only real disappointment is the fact that it's been discontinued. :(
