Old pic of my admittedly favorite cat.. or rather my cat and her favorite human. I have two others, a male I get along with well and another female that wants nothing to do with me. Probably because the one pictured with me (Zillah) attacks the other one (Gia) whenever she (Zillah) sees me pet Gia.

I swear I don't live in such a mess anymore, this was like 3 years ago.
http://dedguy.net/images/foto/2005/me-010505.jpg

edit: just found this, also somewhat old but a freak event. You never see the three of them together like this. The top one (Zillah) and bottm (Archie) are thick as thieves. Always laying on each other and what not. The middle one (Gia) is sort of the lone wolf. Always stays far away from the others.

http://dedguy.net/images/foto/2004/zillah-gia-archie.jpg

Archie is named after Archie Goodwin from the Nero Wolfe books, Zillah is named after Lamech's wife as mentioned in Genesis, and Gia is named after the model.

I don't have any pets like cats or dogs, only Leopard Geckos and Ball Pythons; but somehow I doubt that a "Post your Reptile" thread would get many pictures. :p

Hey Blackhair, I think we ought to start a Post your Reptile thread! I have dogs, birds AND a whole mess of snakes too.

No cats though (had them as a kid)...we're just not much of a cat family. Not to mention my daughter is allergic. :( Once, we did "adopt" a stray though, that was obviously pregnant and she ended up having her babies in our garage (had her spayed after we adopted out her babies). My daughter was about 3 I think and it was before we knew she had a mild allergy. It was definitely fun raising the little ones while it lasted and I've got a great pic of her holding her favorite calico, "Squeaky" that I might just scan and post.

I love other people's cats though, so keep the pics coming!:)

Nice cats everyone! I like cats, but alas, the wife is VERY allergic. I'll have to settle for one of my dog's occasionally acting like a cat. Cats are good for adding a tiny bit of enjoyable chaos into your life.:)

Great cat pics! Brian, I love your cat Jasmine. I originally wanted an all black ("Russian Blue"?) cat, but when I saw the pictures from a friend's litter of new kittens, my heart jumped when I saw the fuzzy little white thing (the first pic in my post, the one Blackhair calls "cute").

Dedguy, I have a very similar "cat tree" but with less branches. It sits in front of a window and Novi loves to sleep there in the afternoon.

The name Novi comes from Lars Von Trier's film, "A Dancer in the Dark" starring Bjork. In the film, she lies to the judge and tells him that her father's name is Oldrich Nový, who is (in real life) an actor from Czech. I love that film, and that name always stuck with me, as I live just off a road called "Aldrich" Road.

As I didn't know the actual spelling of Oldrich Nový at the time, I named my cat "Novi" (also not realizing it is the name of a city in Michigan). The other names I was considering were "Lynch" (from director David Lynch) or "Selby" (from author Hubert Selby, Jr.). I'm glad I chose Novi -- both the name and the cat!

Here's my little monster again. She's currently 4 1/2 years old.

All cute kittys. I don't have a cat or at least I don't own one, it thinks it owns me. It, I call her "useless" , comes to my house everyday and waits for me to feed it , sometimes three times a day. Then it goes "home" at night. But "useless" is here mostly all day sitting on the window sill protecting the property from the other cats. She was in a "war of words" yesterday. I had to go out and break up the soon to be cat fight. I like her and I know she likes me. I feed her chicken chunks that are in canned soup. She loves them. So I guess I have a cat? lol. :) I wonder what percentage of Spydie owners have cats?

Wow what type of cats are those???

My cat's name is Midnight. We think he's a Bombay. He's quite large, at just about 3 feet nose to tail. He's extremely affectionate and well mannered.

Oh, and he will only drink out of a human glass. No cat bowl for him. :D

I love cats. Actually I love all animals. Here are our three cats. From first to last (Emma, Lucy, and Kali).

They are all buddies and sleep on our bed together sometimes. They are all female and Emma and Lucy are about 8 years old, and Kali is 2 years old. Both Lucy and Kali were strays.

Emma:

Lucy:

Kali:

Also, they all have all of their claws, and are inside cats. ;)

David, Lucy has beautiful eyes for a cat! They all do, actually, but Lucy's captivate me.

PS - it bugs me when people don't clean the gunk around a cat's eyes. Its such a simple habit to get into, and it helps your cat look and feel better.

(I'm not picking on anyone here -- in fact, all of these cats look pampered to death, as they should!):)

Yeah, it's funny actually. There is something different about Lucy. She guards my little girl, and is the Alpha cat of our house. She's the most affectionate of all of them and she looks at you like she is very deep. I would almost say she is an old soul. About the gunk in her right eye, it's constant. We've taken her to the vet a number of times and he (they) said that it just happens. She's the only one of our cats that gets it. It's like her tear duct is constantly "on" or something. They said that something could have happened to her while she was a stray that causes it to "leak" all the time. We do wipe the gunk up about 2 times a week on her.

I did learn that if they have a clogged tear duct that 1/2 of their nose will be dry because the same duct helps keep the outside of their nose wet. So it's not clogged because her nose is not ever dry. Weird.

Cats are awesome.

Nice cats you got there David. Emma could have been from the same litter as my Mickey.

Wouter

Thanks Wouter. No kidding. I showed my wife your picture of Mickey and she said "wow that looks like Emma". :)

David, I didn't even notice Lucy's right eye. I didn't bring up the gunk because of your picture! That would be plain rude. But I know, some cats have a real problem with their tear ducts (or whatever they are called). She does have very penetrating eyes, I must say.

Cats rule.

My youngest cat goes by 2 names depending on who you ask. I wanted to call her Maybe, my girlfriend wanted to call her Mable. I now just call her Baby, my gf calls her Mable. I literally caught her and 3 litter mates in a dog cage. They were all strays living behind a strip mall. I gave the others to a local rescue group. She was so cute I had to keep her. As a side effect of her rough start at life she is very tiny, just under 6lbs full grown.

Here's my oldest: Roxi is a Tortoise shell. As a kitten she slept in the most unusual positions. She doesn't really do this any more.

I had a traditional style Siamese cat for a while that was a very light grey / beige with light blue eyes. If I ever tried to clean the gunk out of his eyes he'd squirm like heck and try to bite my hand off lol.

My Dad and step mom adopted their neighbors cat cause they moved away with out her. She is a mix with a very long shaggy black coat and a white under belly with white slippers. She use to terrorize all the neighborhood cats and was strictly outdoors. However she is now a strictly indoor cat because there are way too many bears, cougars, coyotes, and other larger animals that'll eat smaller animals around. This of course has turned her soft lol.
