Yesterday I was at my 'local'[45 min. drive] knife shop when I noticed that the dealer had two 50/50 FRN Enduras right next to each other. I asked to look at them, so he got them out. I noticed that one had ATS-55 and the other had VG-10 steel. He was asking $72.00 for the ATS-55 and $73.00 for the VG-10. Yeah, kinda salty price I know. The weird thing is, the dealer said that VG-10 was on its way out, and ATS-55 was the 'new' steel to take its place. I didn't want to start an argument with him, but I think its the other way around. I consulted my catalogs, and they show VG-10 for 2002.

I guess it just surprised me that the VG-10 Endura was only a dollar more. Go figure.

Another case where the customer knows more than the dealer.

I have found that this group often knows more than many dealers. But this is a very astute group in general, IMO.
