Hey guys how are yah

Today was the first time I took apart a knife, because in the pat i really had no reason to.

May I ask what is the full list of accessories one needs in order to tackle every knife problem that occurs.

Torx Set
Sharpmaker
Tuf glide
Olive Oil :D
The above are the only ones I could come up with. Are there any other essentials that I would need.

take care
aj

A keychain sized prybar. Used to be you had to get an Atwood for this, but now that his products are in high demand, there are other more available options. This bar from CountyComm: http://www.countycomm.com/WIDGYMICRO.htm isn't as fancy, but it will help save your knife blades from temptations like paint cans and loose screws.

Good list Dan :) but you forgot:
1)a roll of duct tape (or packaging tape) - for use as a tourniquet after dropping sharp knife on foot
2)bottle of Mineral oil if you don't want that fancy extra-virgin Oliveoil
3)a good leather strop loaded w/chromium oxide paste always handy while you peruse these great forums for some OCD fun ;)

Oh, I've never cut myself on my tendons with Spyder serrations that required a torniquet quickly whipped up with paracord and broken chopsticks ;) :p

Nor have I ever sliced my fingertips badly enough that they lose their feeling :p

ROFL....OK enough "Dan is an idiot pics". I have sticky tape as a must have, as well as bandages.

I think your basic damp cloth to get rid of blood evidence when you spill the claret all over your wife's freshly mopped up floors would be essential. Bad luck if you did it on carpet !

Additionally, I think some good lighting levels by way os a worklamp or bright ambient lighting is a must when working closely with knives. Especially so if you are tinkering/ customising/ disassembling/ assembling.

I think if you carry a knife everyday (as most of us do), you should probably also carry some steri-strips & band-aids in your wallet; it's not polite to bleed in public :p

My knife-tinker-kit also includes a Multitool (for the pliers mostly), popsicle sticks to move parts into place without scratching or damaging other parts. Lighter fluid (to remove glue stains), spare parts (clips, screws and such), in addition to the stuff already mentioned.

One of those articulating desk-mounted magnifying glasses with the round flourescent lights is very handy, too.

Usually just need:
*full set of hobby screwdrivers and security bits
*tweezers
*blue locktite
*lube of choice (mineral oil, hoppes #9, miltech-1, mil-spec CLP are my choices)
*chamois (or any other soft non-linting cloth

of course, the strop with 2.0 and 0.5 micron stropping paste hangs by the stairs at home, and I've usually got a few rolls of electrical tape kicking around.
