Anybody else stuck in the snow today? We've had record snow here.....officially 20.4" inches. Nothing like I've ever seen in Ohio. Our streets still haven't even been plowed, which I guess doesn't matter since we're not allowed out on the roads!

It's been a movie day, and my para gave me my first ever love-bite tonight while I was opening a DVD box....the bandaids from "The Pharmacy" came in handy tonight :D

Yeah it is a different perspective. But if a city normally doesn't get the snow that Ohio is getting now, there will not be enough snow plows to efficiently clear the roads, so the paltry sum of snow that has hit Ohio effectively cripples all the cities. However if that sum hit Canada or more northern American areas, it would be a slow news day. :)

Dude I shoveled 3 times today and had to get my wife's car "unstuck" a few times.

We got about 20 inches where I'm at too. Today it was coming down at a rate of about 2-3 inches per hour. It was insane. It's slowed down now and the plows are still running around the city. They usually get to my street fairly early, but I knew it was bad because they didn't get to plowing my street until about 10:30pm.

I used to love snow, but now I want to move to Arizona or some place that never gets snow. :)

The only time I miss snow anymore is around Christmas; otherwise I never consider the stuff. Although I do miss it in the summer since Lake Mead is drying up.

Sounds like you can at least get out. We're still under a level 3 emergency. Cars literally can't get out of our neighborhood here the snow is drifted so high. Pretty crazy.

Yeah, from 3 am until about 5 pm we got 15 inches.......they can't keep up with it here.

we only got maybe 8 inches up here, although they did send me home from work. Apparently a cable guy in his van doesn't qualify to be out during a level 3 snow emergency :)

so I got to play with knives and buy a new flashlight today instead of work.

That's some heavy snowfall rate. Hope you guys get plowed/shoveled out okay and your municipal snow removal budget isn't already tapped out.

So much for global warming huh! To bad it doesn't melt and flow into the Colorado and fill up all our reservoirs. The west will need it...

So I guess it's not a good time to mention that it's melting up here  :p

supposed to be just above 0 for 3-4 days in a row. Doesn't help that it freezes at night and my parking spot in front of the house is an ice patch right now.

That weather blows, hope all are O.K. My Mom grew up in Dayton/Xenia and doesn't miss the winters, especially since she just moved to San Diego.
I guess that gives you guys more time to sharpen the knives, just make sure you have band-aids first since there is no driving in some parts.

Checking in here too at 40+cm of snow, about 16" of snow, and howling winds, drifts over my head! Oh well, time to hit the slopes a few more times this year!

I shoveled again today. We ended up getting a total of 21 inches I think. We had snow blowing and drifting overnight so I had to go out and shovel again. Then today the sun came out and melted where I shoveled right down to the concrete so it's all nice and dry and walkable. It's funny to have completely dry sidewalks and driveways and have 4 feet of snow piled beside the driveway and 3 feet beside the sidewalks. I'm sure it's nothing like Colorado or Canada but for Ohio it's pretty cool. :)

5 or 6 (?) years ago we got 21 to 23 inches here in raleigh. That truly surprised me. I recall some good snows in Ohio back in the 60's and 70's. Drifts in the bacxkyard were like frozen ocean waves 3 or 4 foot high.

Then I moved to Michigan and learned a lot more about snow & cold.

Then the alps. Probably the most snow I ever saw was the winters in Bertchesgaden & Salzberg. It really piled up there. Worse then Colorado the couple years I lived there.

Of course I recall a blizzard in denver when I was there ( Christmas 82 maybe?) where I was driving on a path and 18 wheelers in the next lane were buried. I was driving back to the springs. A couple hour drive took me something like 16 hours.

I should shut up about snow or I'll bring the wrath down on raleigh. shhhh! Joe

It's been snowing for at least three days here.
