I recently noted a posting by a forumite regarding the C 66 "Vesuvius"

and how the "compression lock" fails to

keep the blade in the closed position ;

I recently tested this, and, to my horror, the blade just swung out of

the handle with a little force. I wonder if the "techno junkies" have come

up with a "fix" for this one ? I wouldn't want to see Spyderco face the

same dilemma as CRK&T faced about a

year ago with U.S. Customs. I also noted

that my "Vesuvius'" screws were too tight

to switch the clip for "tip down" carry.

Anybody else had this problem ?

Well, the standard fix to this is to have Spyderco pay more attention to the ball detent system. It's not the best "hold the blade closed" system in the world, in fact IMO it just teeters on the brink of adequacy, but with careful attention it will hold the blade in okay.
