Holy spice traders! I had no idea! Thanks for the link and the heads up. Maybe this will start a trend of movies based on great books featuring giant worms from space! I really want to see David Gerrold's War Against the Chtorr series as movies...

I hope so, I enjoyed ''Children of Dune'' very much.

woohoo!

pretty sure I have all the books (even the new ones released by his son), and bought the collector edition of the movie.

can't wait to see how they manage this time, might actually be able to get it closer to the book's plot

I always hate when the annouce things before they even have a script. Cuz now I have years to wait before it hits the big screen. I hope they do a good job.. This is exciting news.

They definitely have their work cut out for them. Dune may be more difficult to compress into a reasonable (3 hr or less) movie and still do true justice to the story than any of the LOTR books. Wish them the best, certainly can't turn out any worse than the original one.

I believe there is only one word in the English language that accurately addresses the situation: WORD

I hope they get away from the 'art deco on acid' theme for the set, as seen in the first movie.

I feel like I've seen the retelling of this story so many times,

I want them to move on and do the other books...

I can only hope this will be a success and the saga continues :o

Yay for another remake!
Actually I kinda like the old Lynch Dune, but a new version might work out.

But, on the downside, there is another remake in the works.
Brace yourself for the ultimate horror, a sacrilege of filmmaking, an enterprise that is sure to be an utter abomination because the original can never be surpassed:
There's a remake of "The Seven Samurai" in production. Argh.

I saw the original ''Seven Samurai'' again last week, including the break halfway, English subtitles.
An absolute icon of cinema.
I agree with you, this can not be surpassed.

the original is superb,
I like the western Magnificent Seven,

I hope this one is done in a post apocalyptic future setting...
cause if not...
it just seems like an overly ambitious project

:spyder: Toshiro Mifune is dead, he left some pretty damned big flip-flops to fill. :spyder:
