Is the cricket good for everyday things or should I get something else?

It is an excellent little knife, I got one with teeth. The blade shape is very useful.

Rookie - While I carry more than one knife per day I always carry one of these:
Cricket FRN - PE or Serrated
Cricket Pink
Cricket Almite PE or Serrated
Cricket CF
