hello all,

I'm new to the forum, I just bought my second spyderco last week, and I'm definitly addicted. Great knives. My first spydie was a FRN dragonfly P/E, and my second is a S/S serrated dragonfly. I was just wondering if anyone would know if the S/S might have some ever so slight slight blade movement (left to right, very hard to notice) when locked. Is this normal? I have also noticed that the FRN dragonfly has some left to right blade movement when the lock is disengaged. Has anyone else found this to be true?

Welcome aboard, bro!

This is one great place to learn and hear of excellent tips about knives and they're uses. [Yeah, there is also talk of other things...<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>]

Hi Mike, welcome aboard.

I think a number of the FRN models have some slight play when closed (my Calypso Jnr does), but I have never had any blade play on any FRN or SS knife when open and locked up.

To put your mind at ease you might want to contact Spyderco's customer service. They are very freindly, and more than any other company I have delt with they will bend over backwards to help.

Greetings Mike.

I have had my SS Dragonfly, plain edge, since August... daily use. Although there is a slight (1mm if that) L-R movemwnt when locked, I haven't worried about it yet.

We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

Hmmm, that's a good question, Mike.

I just got my CF Dragonfly in Tuesday. When it is in locked position, it is tighter than tight. In fact, I almost have a hard time employing the Spydie Drop with it. I believe that after a few hundred cyclings it should loosen up a bit. Have you contacted Spyderco about this blade-play? You might what to mention it to them. I'm sure they could help you out.
