Hello All,
So I recently spent my vacation in Kauai, and took my Delica 4 along in case I needed a knife. Enjoy the pictures:

First morning, very nice

Glad I brought the D4, the knife in our Condo was VERY DULL:(

And of course I brought the D4

As my wife and I were walking down the beach we were lucky enough to see some young local guys fishing from shore. These guys hauled in a 50lb Ulua (Giant Trevally ) right in front of us. The look on the fishermans face says it all

And before I knew it the vacation was over

Hope you guys/gals enjoy the pics. If you get the chance to visit Kauai, take it, you won't regret going.

cool pics, that was a big damn fish!....did you do any diving out there? i heard that the volcano tubes are a blast to dive in. i am jealous, i used to fly for free so i have been to Hawaii a few times;), but not in the last 15 years or so.

Tony - yes that was a big fish, he actually had to hand the pole to his buddy and dive in after it. As he grabbed the fish by the tail in shallow water it spit the hook, so he dragged it in by hand:eek: :D
No scuba:( :( I was unlucky enough to catch a sinus cold on the plane ride over. We went snorkeling twice (end of trip), but the near-shore weather wasn't so hot, so we concentrated on hiking and eating as much Ahi Poke as we could.

Awesome pics!!!! I bet those fishermen were going nuts!! I spent some time on Maui, and the Ulua was the holy grail for shore fishing... and the fact that you could eat for like a week on it!!!!
I'm heading to the islands next year, Kauai being one, and I plan on bringing my Salt I SE!!! woohoo!!
Did you just pack yer Delica in check-in luggage?? or something special??

Wow, what a fish! Very nice pics. I went to Honolulu last year but sadly the only knife I brought with me was a Leatherman. Glad you enjoyed your trip!

My spydies are always complaining that I never take them anywhere exotic. Now they are really jealous. Looks like a great trip. Hope you had fun. :D

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, yes, it was lot's of fun.

McBain - I just packed it in my checked baggage, had no problems with carrying while I was there. I checked the Hawaiian laws first at:

http://www.handgunlaw.us/documents/USKnife.pdf

I have seen on some other forums that some people feel that Hawaii sticks to the "under three inches rule" but most knife law sites contain the actual laws/codes, and these don't mention size. I think it's like alot of other places, as long as you aren't up to no good, you will have no problems. Enjoy your trip.
