Hey everybody. A little while ago I decided that I would get myself a good flashlight, and so I did some research, spent some time on CPF and found what I wanted. I ended up buying a Fenix P3D Q5, and I couldn't be more pleased.

The light is small, light weight, and hella-bright! It takes two 3v CR123 Lithium batteries. I am currently using two 3.7v RCR123 batteries in it (rechargeable) and they work great. The only thing that could be improved on this light would be the grip. It is somewhat slippery, and could use some more knurling for better purchase with your hand. Other than that (and that's not a big deal) it is a great light. According to Fenix, its max output (on turbo mode) is 215 Lumens! It is ridiculously bright for the size of flashlight.

Anyway, here are some pics I took along with my Para for comparison. Enjoy!

PS. I don't know why some pics are bigger than others. I have them all sized at 640 x 480...

I've got a P3d-Q5 as well, its very bright for its size! You should check out some of the Surefire ones, they're expensive, but incredibly powerful and they are easier to grip onto, particularly when wearing gloves in the rain!

Thanks for the pics!

Nice pics spyderwings. That is a nice light, especially for the money, I almost went with that one as well but decided on the L2D Q5. (not a big fan of the CR123's yet;)

Excellent choice in a small flashlight. I have 6 different Fenix's and am happy with all of them. You might want to check out the new Fenix TK10. Larger size and has the Cree Q5 Premium. Good price too. I switched from Surefires a year or two ago to Fenix and have never looked back.

Thanks for the excellent pics and review.

I've been looking into the Fenix brand and have heard some good things about them. Your review confirms it for me.

Fenix will be my next light over Surefire. They are a better value for the money IMHO.

Thanks Spyderwings! Great review!

I have both Surefire and Fenix lights. Also have a P3D Q5 in the natural finish too. I'd say your review is spot-on.

Topics about Surefire vs. Fenix lights tend to degenerate horribly on CPF. As someone who owns a handful of lights from each company, I'd just like to say that I enjoy both; for different reasons.

I know, its hilarious!! I have both too, and use both for different tasks. I'm not a massive fan of LED, but I was really surprised by the output of the Fenix.

Does anyone know the difference between the 2x123 body and the 3x123 body for the fenix p3d q5? The Tactical 3x123 Body will give it 50% longer runtime? is this correct? But at the same time make the flashlight a lil longer in length? And i would also like to know how much longer will the battery runtime be for the Tactical 2x123 Body? Will the flashlight remain the same in length? I cant decide. Thank you very much. I would greatly appreciate anyones help.

The 3x123 body will increase both the runtime and the physical length of the light. I don't know about the 2x123 body, but if it has a forward clicky then it will likely increase the physical length of the light as well. The P3D is a great light, and personally I don't think you can go wrong with the stock light.
