I spent Saturday at the Gun and Knife Show. Ran into several rare Spydies (Blue Centfano, C12 Civilian Alum w/ rubber etc....). I found one dealer w/ New Spydies. While I purchased a Lil Temperence I had to pass on the Salsa. It's just not up to par with the others. Has anyone else held one. Whats your opinion. rr

I actually just got my Salsa yesterday at the SFO - I think it's one cool knife (or maybe I should say hot!). The pictures I had seen were kind of deceiving, this is actually a pretty beefy knife. It's got a very nice feel to it and I really like the Cobra Hood and the Compression Lock. I'm not a big fan of the wire clips, but that's just my preference.

Rico - What didn't you like about it?

Wait a minute... the Salsa's are already out? I didn't get a memo, grrr...

Anyways, what were the final specs, and are both versions in production right now or just the lower cost variety? Also, where can I get one online? I don't have any dealers around here with a very good selection of Spydies.

At first glance I was not impressed with the Salsa either. However, once I held one and observed that it was a "heavier duty" knife than I had expected, I began to change my mind. I still have some quarums about the fact it is made in Taiwan, but I must say the quality of the knife is better than what I had expected. The aluminum Salsas are light and appealing to a lot of peoples eyes. Personally, IF I get one, it will be the titanium one. The compression lock and style on the titanium one just looks nicer and seems a little heftier. I can't say I love the knife, but we'll see what happens after I play around with it a little more.

Ryan,

Why is this particular model made in Taiwan?

Hi Kahz. We found a maker with the skill and the Passion. The Salsa is his first model for us.

Sal,

Thanks for feeding my curiosity. I still have not seen the Salsa in person (in knife, rather), but I will have to soon.

Are both models made in Taiwan? Sorry, info on the net seems to be a bit light on this one so far, and as said, I need to find a better dealer of Spydies.

Yes, both models are made by the same manufacturer in Taipei.
