story of the police model? Can anyone tell me?

Since the ss police is my favorite spydie, and I was told that it has been designed for a long time, I am very eager to know more about this great knife. Can anybody tell me the story of this great knife? like what was it intended for, when was it designed and how many different models are made... Appreciate!

Hi Golem. We came out with the Mariner/Rescue model in 1982. Law enforcement professionals said they liked the cutting power of the Mariner/Rescue but would prefer to have a point on the tip. The model was designed to be a Mariner/Rescue knife with a point. The original version was made for Police so we put "Pride, Integrity, Guts" on the blade. That original model became known as the "PIG" model. There were 2400 pcs made with "PIG" in left/right, plain and fully serrated.
