What does everybody think of the MEERKAT. Does it have vg-10 steel, what is the blade grind?

Hi Rookie,

The Meerkat comes in two different steels:
440C and AUS-6. The blade grind on these is the 'hollow grind'. The Meerkat comes in two blade styles: A modified drop-point and reverse &quot;S&quot; like the Cricket. I have the drop-point model on order, so I'll let you know what its like once it arrives. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

&quot;When in doubt, buy it.&quot;

Rookie - I have a Meerkat and love it. I would like the cricket style blade asap. It is fun to give it to people open and ask them to close it. rr

It is a fun little knife I have enver had anyone be able to close the lock. It is s chunky little knife. Mine had some blade play issues so I sent it back and a new one should be coming soon from the wonderful warranty and repair people at spyderco.

The Meerkat is a great little knife. I picked one up a numbered one a few months ago and loved it. But since it was a &quot;collector&quot;, I had to pick up another for everyday carry.

I love how you can engage the phantom lock and just flip the blade open. Same thing to close it. Also, the clip allows for deep pocket carry. But I generally carry it in the little pocket in the front right of my jeans (with my Lum Chinese Folder in my back right pocket).

The Meerkat fits my hand perfectly.

I carry a Meerkat to work just about every day. It gets right off the porch with the bigger boys, and is it ever fun to play with. The Phantom lock is something I would like to see on other models, such as the Delica.

I love my Meerkat. It is unassuming, comfortable, has a great lock, a useful blade and a very reasonable price. I recommend one (or two) to everyone.

Is the phantom lock as strong as a lockback or linerlock.

Just got my Meerkat today. I like it. A little loose in the lockup and a real bear to pull out of the watchpocket but real sharp, good steel and fits hand perfect. FYI also got Spydie hat which I wear to make comments on this forum....doesnt everyone?
