I think Jaislandboy directed me to this thread on Bladeforums:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=537085

The Guy made a stroppingrod out of clay coated paper as described in the thread.

I made a hollow tube with a little flex left so it will give away a little . This way it works great on hawkbill and recurved blades. It however works on any bladeshape.

I guess the silicon in the printcoating works kind of an abrasive. I polished my Caly 3 and my Subclaw this way after i ended sharpening them on the sharpmaker finerods.
I stropped them spine first on this fabricated rod and they sure came out great!!!

Now i don't have to mess with compound and leather if i want my edges to be less toothy...

All of this free of charge:D

Just give it a try ; you will be amazed!

hey Mat, glad you found Zeasor's thread useful....
All the junk mail I get (catalogs and such) can now be used for something  ;)

....

I tried it, and I dont really notice it to be any better.... actually, It seems to cut paper a little worse...

Am I doing it wrong? I lay it at about the bevel angle, and with very light pressure draw it backward. ( I was using a BM Grip PE )

I noticed that with the Magazine pages, the blade picks up a bunch of gook and glue like goobers.

Thanks guys...

hey Clock,
you probably need to recreate a good edge with coarse grits coz stropping is usually a "finishing step" ; if the original edge geometry is lousy, you're polishing a lousy edge (if that makes any sense) try the Sharpie magic marker trick....color your edge before sharpening with the magic marker... achieve a "wire edge" on one side before going to the other side...
