View Full Version : Green Almite dings?

I've had an Almite Navigator for less than a year--it rode in my pocket (with assorted coins) and in less than a year the almite is pretty dinged up on the edges. That's OK: I'm more of a user than a collector. But a friend just gave me a Chinese Folder for xmas, and (because it's a much more expensive knife) I'm wondering if it's headed for the same fate. Any field reports on how well the coating stands up on the Chinese Folder as an EDC knife?

Hi Comrade,
Welcome to the Spyderco Forum.
I have a green Lum and it is starting to show some wear through the Almite in a couple of spots.

I have used my Lum Chinese at work and have dropped it on the hard tile floor at work twice, one time it skidded , and haven't seen a ding yet. I have been using it for about six months. I am sure that if it was carried in the bottom of my pocket instead of clipped to my pocket that it would be scratched and dinged. I you want to preserver your knife, use the pocket clip if you are not already. I am also careful as to how I take the keys out of my pocket, and put them in, as to not scratch the handle.
Some laws permit, what honor dose not.

If you guys have any serious dings... a felt marker the same color as the knife should be a temporary fix. If the color doesn't match pefectly (usually to dark) wipe it with your finger before it dries, this will usually lighten it. Hope that helps you out!
