I was recently perusing the 1SKS website
and noticed the CRK&T Ryan Model 7 at a
VERY reasonable price ; i then went to
my local knife store and saw BOTH the
Spyderco "Native" and Ryan 7. I did like
the way the "Native" fit my hand, not to
mention its "silky smooth" action. But, I
liked the Ryan 7 just as much. I could
get the Ryan for $20.00 less than the
"Native", but price is NOT the option.
What would you forumites do in my shoes ?

The Native in 440V offers a lot of bang for the buck. I would say go for the Native.

Allen,
Natives all the way I say! I too pick up a few CRK&Ts along the way and some of them do look really neat. As a service company, CRK&T is a pup in the woods compared to Spyderco. The steels are better with Sal's company too. I got one of those CRK&T Kit Carson flipper blades recently. Real neat design. It had a few problems so I contacted the CRK&T folks via phone. They listened (I was polite), put me on hold and came back to tell me those knifes are hand ground and the problem existed in all the ones in stock. Then to top it off, they told me that if I didn't like it, then call Kit Carson himself and buy a custom knife. Special company that CRK&T.
Now on the otherhand, Spyderco has good people & good products. So now I try to support them foremost. Why not? Can't loose.
The CRT collaboration knives are nice little toys though. Spyderco makes wonderful tools.

Although I haven't seen a present need for the Native, I will say that I am hopelessly biased by Spyderco's good 'stuff', so MY vote would be for the Native.
I have had quite a few dealings with CRK&T and am so-far pleased with what I see. BTW, I just got my bro the Kit Carson designed 'neck knife' for Christmas, and he LOVES it. Yeah, I shoulda bought him a Spyderco.....
Good luck on whatever you decide!
