How did you come up with the name Spyderco?

In the land of knives, Spyderco is king.

Legend has it (and somebody will correct me if I'm wrong), that Sal's first product was a device for holding/supporting things, sort of like an artificial hand.
Coincidentally, one of the rests (supports) used in snooker is called a spider.

Not sure is the original device was called a spyder because it looked like one, or whether spyder is another name for a supporting device.

The invention that the company was founded on is (no kidding) a device that is used to hold things (like electronic circuits during manufacture) with aligator clips on 4 movable arms. It resembles a spider. From there they became Spyderco. Also, the 'y' in Spyder aludes to performance as in sports cars such as the Fiat Spyder <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>.

This is all I know, anybody else?
