Which one is the best?
Police Model (G-10)
Military Model
Endura
Endura Lightweight
Delica
Delica Lightweight
I'd like a knife which is portable and easy to carry around in your pocket yet not with too short blade.
I'm going for the plain edge modells.

Darren,
Welcome to the Syderco Forum!
That's a tough one, all good knives (I own all listed) The Police is one of my favs. It is quite large, the Millie is a great knife as well. It is a good hunting knife, easy to clean. The Endura is the one that started all this madness a few years back, excellent knife. The Delica is a jr. Endura.
You can't go wrong with any Spyderco, I guess it depends on your primary use.
What do you plan on using it for... self defense, hunting, fishing, hiking ?

Get the police. It is a real good knife, is being discontinued and will become tougher to find. I have the SS version and really like it.

Darren, I you read the forums for just a short while you will
fine that NO knife is "best". That is to say that no one knife
is really any better than another slightly different knife. It
really depends on your intended use such as daily do it all
chores or the need for a part time weapon.
Since this is your first post I'd suggest that you start with
a Delica jr lwt. as a good basic do it all daily carry "pocket
knife". Then as you learn more from reading all the post here
you begin to understand just what you need and want.
A word of caution about all the knife forums. DON'T get
all fired up by all the post saying this knife or that knife is
better than that knife. ALWAYS match what you buy with
what you NEED. If you don't do that then you'll waste a lot
of money on knives you won't use or can't carry.
Good luck and welcome. Enjoy the sport of knife collecting.

Hi Darren, welcome aboard.
Tough choice.
As a general rule SS handles are more streamlined but a touch heavier than their FRN counterparts. Personally I prefer SS handles over FRN ones (when I can't get G-10), but it's just a personal preference.
All the knives you list are great ones. Not knowing your needs I'll suggest the middle ground and suggest the Endura.
If you need a bigger knife for tough cutting I would also suggest the Military.

Welcome-Stick around here long enough and you will end up with all of them.
IMO the Delica would be best for most for EDC either SS or FRN.I perfer the old model FRN but the newest ones have VG10 steel.Either way you can go wrong.

Darren,
It is not on your list, but I'd steer you towards a Golden made Native.
The Native should be your EDC. All the others mentioned are the spare Spydies you'd rotate though the other pockets!!
You may still be able to pick up one of the limited addition inlay Natives from John Jensen at a great price too. These knifes simply rock for EDC; actually out of this world, even though they say made on "Earth" on the blade!

Welcome to the Forum.
Buying a knife is an very personal thing.
Many factors figure in getting the best knife. The trick is to decide which things mean the most to you.
If you're going to carry it all the time, be aware of the laws that govern where you'll be traveling, e.g., some of the jurisdictions that I travel through to get to where I work in New Jersey limit my carry to a 3 inch blade.
My personal favorite, elsewise, is the Military. I find the G-10 scales are strong and lightweight, but with still a large 4 inch blade. However, the most important factor in my choice, is how well it feels in my hand!
I don't know if you can get to a Spyderco dealer, but if you can, pick up the various choices and see how you feel about each one.
If you're like the rest of us, on the Forum, you'll probably end up owning all of them.
One way or the other, you pay for your tools!
Hi Sharp1.
Perhaps you might be able to shaed some light on this. John Jensn describe their inlaid Natives as being FRN handles, whereas Blade Art describe them (and they are) as being G-10.
Did Jon Jensen goof, or are their two types ?

Howdy Yog,
The Inlayed Natives are most definately G10 scales(fiberglass/epoxy).This G10 is nicely textured too. They are just awsome and solid and nearly as perfect as that size knife can be.The inlay models have great steel too. I'll assume JJ did not mean what he typed, in other words a typo. he surely knows ALL about knives. The Vesuvious feels like an FRN inlayed handle to me. The Vesuvious is smooth like Velvet. I am waiting for thos eto catch on. I see a few posts on these of late:
