View Full Version : Duplicate knives anyone???
Does anyone else here have the tendency to buy Spydies in duplicates or is it just me? I have 2 Chinooks, 2 CF Civilians, 2 Natives etc...well you get the idea and they're all in the same configuration (serrated or ps). I know the money would be better spent on other knives but I just can't help myself.....and regret it later. I was even tempted to get a second commemorative worker from shootist16 after buying one from him but managed to restrain myself...

Didn't I read in some thread that Clay recommended buying knives in pairs
Sorry Clay I couldn't resist
Hoosierdaddy, if Clay really recommends buying knives in pairs, we should ask him to practice what he preaches....

I tend to buy hard-to-find knives, and ones that I REALLY like, in pairs. One for me to "play" with, and one for my collection!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this!

No, you'er not alone in buying pairs. If I REALLY
like a knife I will buy at least two also. Often more.
My reason is that I buy what seems to be discontinued
knives simply because they are what I like and ya' gotta
get em' when ya' can. I carry one and hold the other back
so sell to pay for the one I'm using. If it is in mt "keeper"
catagory both will be held for use in case of loss of the other.

No, I don't recommend buying knives in pairs. In fact I think it is a detestable practice and has been proven to lead to all manner of excesses and addictions. However I do recommend that hy gives all his duplicates to me before this infliction progresses any further.

ROFLHAO!!!!
So... pairs, right? I think "someone" in this forum recommended that I should buy a Calypso Jr. in PE... someone...
Presently, I have no pairs, but I am considering the FRN Native as a later addition to my collection.

Wow....am I glad I'm not the only one who buys duplicates...On the other hand, my addiction's going to get worse since misery loves company... Spyderholic, 6 civilians??? And what is a firefly???
I wonder if any one would pick that "firefly " refence up good eyes dude.
The fire fly was a g.saki knife that has a little led light embeded in the tail on the kife, a small schackle for you keys and what not. Kind a Spyderco because If I remember correctly we were the only ones to import this product so you had to get through a dealer that stocked up on SPY's. They cam black on yello and yellow on black. And had a thumb stud so it easily opens one handed a little easier then the ladybugs did and do.

Hy, I have a Firefly. I'll bring it along next time.
Kahz, SE and PE versions of the same knife don't count as duplicates. That'd be like saying male and female twins were identical .

Omigosh! Replicates, duplicates!! Sometimes I buy a pair, so that I can give one away without missing it too much...
Sam
have spydies will travel
Thanks to everyone forallowing me to think that I have some semblance of normalcy left .....Seeing how some of you have rather warped thinking (see participants of kangaroo scrotum thread)...I was tempted to put 'Twins and Menage a troix' in the subject header to attract more attention but I'm glad I didnt have to. Does anyone know why a lot of the spydies are named after insects, reptiles and animals (eg meerkat, mouse, dragonfly, toad, ladybug etc)?
