we had a fire this morning...i helped get a guy out of the building that was trapped on the 3rd floor.:D the company was interviewed but i don't think it will be on the internet till after the news airs tonite. my buddy went up to get him but the guy ducked back into the room and handed a 100lb german shepard out the window...i went up next and the victim down the ladder...the victim took a beating from the smoke but he and the dog are ok as far as i know.

it wouldn't let me link directly to the film so you have to look for the headline "fire at 4story building" it should be below the crosstown classic.

Wow, Tony, lotsa respect for ya. I was watching that on the news this morning. Looks like it was quite a project, they were showing a few CFD crews up on the roof, and a ladder team in the back of the building.

....speaking of crosstown classic....Cubs?? or Sox??

we were the ladder team in the back...had to carry a 40' half a block  to get there. i am more of a cubs fan but i am really not into baseball much. i hate watching it on tv but i i like to go to wrigley once in awhile just because it is a great ball park and it is more interesting when you are actually at the game.

Tony,

That's cool. I mean it's cool what you guys do. I don't mean people's houses burning is cool. ;)

Thanks for the vid. That's awesome.

Here's a direct link bro. :)

no idea...i usually just break things ;)which makes it harder for the investigator to figure out the cause. the OFI guy used to be from our house so i might be able to find out...i'll PM you if i do because it probably shouldn't be on a public forum if it wasn't an accident. i am pretty stoked about the whole situation because it is my first save from a fire....the ambo runs where we saved people just don't compare for some reason.

between the cub vs sox game and a 5' alligator found in the chicago river oour interview didn't make the news:rolleyes:. one of the local newspapers had an article on it. better than nothing.

Tony,
Nice.

...had to carry a 40' half a block
The largest ground ladder we have is a 3 section 35' sans tormentors, and I HATE that beast! I can't imagine throwing a 40' with poles, let alone carrying the damn thing. The 40' is almost exactly a 100 lbs. heavier than the 35', my back hurts just thinking about it.

...being an Arson Investigator...
Raven,
Did you make it to either the NAFI or IAAI conventions in Denver this year? I was at NAFI and managed to get my CFEI, but didn't have a chance to get to IAAI :(.

Thanks Ian...there aren't any tormentors on our 40', just the 50'. the 40' has 3 fly sections as does the 50'. we usually use the 28' or 35' (2 flys) but they would have been short for the rescue. i was at a different firehouse yesterday but i heard we might get written up for a commendation:D:D...we'll see what happens.

Tony,
That would be a GOOD write up, not like the one's I usually get :D.

As long as I have your attention, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

And also, thanks for helping keep my kid sister safe. She lives/works in the loop.
