Hey there knife knuts! My grandfather recently passed away, and I got one of his knives. I'm not sure what it is. The blade looks like the civilian blade and the scales(?) are the carbon fiber ones. Is this a civilian?, or is it something else? the blade says ATS-55 and it was made in japan. If you have any ideas about this knife and its value, please let me know. Thanks

****** I'm thinking about selling this knife, it is a carbon fiber civilian, i found out. But it has no number, if I get a good offer I'll take it!*****

sorry to hear about your grandfather, its a rare limited edition carbon fiber civilian, only 500 made i believe, 225 right handed plain edged, 25 left handed plain edge, 225 right handed serrated edge, 25 left handed serrated edge.
there should be a number etched into the blade (mines 451 <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>)

Nu2knives,

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum!

Sorry about your grandfather!
It sounds like a Civilian to me. They retail for about 230.00 but can be bought for 137.00 Did it come with a pouch? Is the blade numbered? It is a great knive, don't use it for general applications as this will void warranty!

Hi Nu2knives! Welcome to Spyderland! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Sorry to hear about your grandfather. Losses like that are always hard, especially if you knew them well.

Look again on the blade. There has to be a number on a CF Civilian. At least one of the Spydernuts here will definitely make you an offer once they know the numbers on it.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Welcome to the forums! I am also sorry to hear of your loss.

I just wanted to add that I have a CF Civilian without a number also. They must have slipped through, I wonder how many are out there without numbers?

Hi nu2knives. Sorry about your loss. Your Grandfather probably knew more about knives than the average person. The Cabon Fiber Civilian is an exotic limited edition model.
