Mr. Janich,

After a long wait, I took delivery of a Janich/Snody Ronin. It is a most remarkable design. Quick, responsive, well balanced, solid, and very, very sharp. Three people who saw it said exactly the same thing. "It looks dangerous."

They want one, but Mike Snody is not accepting orders. He is said to be backlogged three years. I understand that Spyderco will produce a commercial version. Do you know when it might be available?

I believe a folding version is also planned. It will be a formidable knife. I want one. How soon?

Qship,

Welcome to the Forum.

Any chance of you posting a picture of this amazing knife? Thanks.

I too am one of the lucky ones. It was worth the wait, and it is dangerous.

I hope that we will not have to wait 3 years for Spyderco to commercially produce the Yojimbo and the Ronin. Trainers and Kydex sheaths as well, please.

Dear Qship and UXO:

Thanks for your posts and congratulations on getting your Ronins. I'm glad you like the design and also hope that Spyderco makes a commercial version available soon. The project is in the works, however, it is one of many. Remember, good things come to those who wait (and bad things come to those who attack those who waited for and received their good things).

The folding version of the Ronin, discussed previously as the "Yojimbo," will probably be a bit more of a wait. Folders are more complicated, so the development process takes a while longer.

Trainers? Probably longer still.

If you'd like to expedite the process, please let your desires be known on this forum and in direct communication to Spyderco. They aim to please and will always do their best to meet your needs.

Stay safe,

mike j

Excuse me but would anyone know of where a picture of this "Ronin" is on the internet? It sounds interesting....

Dear Zatoichi:

Please check the link in UXO's post above or just go to Mike Snody's web site www.snodyknives.com and cruise around. You'll find it there. It also appears in a neck knife article in Knives 2002 (page 12, I think).

Stay safe,

Hi Mike,
Did I read that right? Are we more likely to see the Spydie Ronin before the Yojimbo? That's good and bad news. I'd love to get a Ronin. I've been wanting one since I saw Mike's in Golden. The bad news would be, it'll be even longer for the Yojimbo. Something else I've wanted since seeing the proto-type pics in Golden. Neither can come soon enough.
