I'm not sure if its actually becoming a fasion or just more acceptable to general society, but foldingknives in all the different variety of handle colors we are seeing nowadays
are becoming quite mainstream.
im all for it,cause now you can have your girlfriend or wife edc'ng a foldingknife aswell, specialy if it starts becoming more candy like colors.
its real cool that the knifemarket is expanding its horizons alot more,to users you never thought would carry knives, but now that a knife has a sorta friendly handlecolor, there are more people who are likely to start edc'ng a foldingknife of some sort.
if for instance there should be a Spydie with a softpink or babyblue handle with a flowerprint on the handle, and that would make my girlfriend actualy buy a knife out of her own, without me hinting. I AM ALL FOR IT.
Bring on the lego colors and else and let more people buy knives and get RESPECT for knives in the same sence.

Good idea my friend;)

I think that move could do spyderco´s better selling than now - I don´t want to say that is bad selling but... for wider public and NKP´s it´s good oportunity to buy knife and becom KP (knife person).

Girls in my class (15 girls adn 7 boys) are very often asking me: " do you have a knife please?" so I borrow my :spyder: to them... but their reaction on my spyder? "Oh cool knife but toooo scary for me - better in pink, or with flowers..." so why not. :D:D

I think that idea has good future:rolleyes:

Think it's a mixed bag. Some colors can be more "user" friendly under certain circumstances. Orange, yellow, and lime green tend to make a knife easy to find if dropped in the field or placed on a cluttered surface. Camo might be of some benefit to those hunting turkey and other game animals which have good color vision.

Camo, on the other hand would probably be a total turn off to NKPs, and may even make some "knife people" cringe a bit when used on knives which are obviously not intended for hunting non-human prey. On the other hand, lighter colors may very well have some positive effect on NKPs perception of a given knife, although in my work environment, I find the most significant factors are construction and edge type. Bolster and scales knives, even fairly large one such as the C83 Persian are received much better than slab handled knives and plain edge blades far better than serrated.

Fashion, and the collector market are both factors as well. Small quantities of any color of a popular model will sell well, although some will sell better than others simply because they will attract both users and collectors. I would bet the white Enduras will sell out before the pink ones, but a run of pink Ladybugs might break all records for speed of selling out.

Agree on pretty much everything Paul has said above..... but the Pink Ladybugs :D I'll take 6 of them ASAP for th good wife and daughters...then one for myself to use and another for the collection:p

I think sprint runs in new colors are an excellent idea, and can probably boost sales in a certain model, bladesteel and edge type real well.again im all for it.
i usualy watch when NKP's and the customer who doesn't have a clue what they want, WRT to a pocketknife, usually as a gift for someone or themselves, buy into a knife.
for instance at the one knifestore i usually buy my knives, there was a lady who wanted to buy a knife for her husband.
Most of the 50+ knives in the cabinet were mostly black handled or SS handles.
there was one Salt1 serrated, with a YELLOW handle.
She basically looked pass all the other knives in the cabinet,as the yellow Salt1 caught her attention immediately and she replied,'Oh il take that nice looking one with the teeth and pretty yellow handle.'she also said that the Salt looked the sharpessed of the bunch, because of the serrated teeth;and the Spydie was sold.

I am beginning to really like different colored knives. I already am really crazy about white for some reason. I really wish I could get a Delica 4 in the blue that it originally came in ZDP-189. That was a real nice color. I am also planning to buy a couple of smaller colored FRN knives to give to people that need a knife. :)

Good thread.
