I'm looking at replacing my current car speakers with some Alpine SPR-13C's, Any thoughts?

I don't need alot of low end because I've already got some nice subs, but I'm not digging my current speakers anymore.

They look really nice but personally, I need to hear speakers before I buy them. Reading specs on them and looking doesnt tell you how they are going to really sound but that just my opinion.

alpine makes some good stuff. I am happy with my Boston Acoustic Speakers in my truck

Being an Alpine nut, i have heard them, a few times.

The Type R speakers are built to be used with or without a sub, and get very good sound, both high and low end, and are fantastic alone when amped properly.

The Type S speakers are built to be used more with some bass help, and get good clarity in the highs and mids, but don't have much bass and get somewhat chattery(is that even a word) when a lot of bass is pumped through them.

My system is all 6.5" speakers, so i can't attest to the daily sound quality of the 5.25" speakers, but I have a pair of Type S and a pair of Type R, amped with a 4 channel Alpine amp putting 70 watts RMS through each speaker.

Are you planning on putting it through an amp, or just running it with the head unit? From just the head unit, go with the Type S. If through an amp, go with the Type R.

Also, what kind of sub are you using? Does it fill the car appropriately, or shake the street as you drive by? If it is putting out a lot of power you may lose the clarity of the speaker anyway, so be careful when you choose. I have heard many car systems that blow windows out with the bass, and make the other speakers in the car sound tinny and weak.

In conclusion, Alpine speakers, Subs, Amps and Head Units are the only car audio I buy, and I may be a little biased, but it is my opinion that they are a great speaker, when used properly.

I have these polk db651's in my little honda fit,
not sure if they will fit in your car, but they are impressive for the price.
Surprising amount of bass extension for inexpensive speakers.
(takes a few weeks to "break in" to get best sound, as with many speakers).

Mikeband, I'll be amping them with a 4 channel amp along with a seperate amp for my sub. I have a control knob so that I can just fill out my sound, or blow the windows out. It depends on how I'm feeling/how badly I want the person in front of me to go faster :D

Polks are also great speakers. I have seen them run 300 watt RMS in 6X9 config and not tear themselves apart.
