Today I was out in the boonies appraising a nice custom home. While I was inside the home I heard this wierd clicking noise, that turned out to be the biggest Scorpion I have ever seen, other than the ones that have been turned into paper weights. I am normally a "live and let live" type of guy, but this beast was in a home that was already framed, and will be ocuppied in less than a month(by a nice little old lady, even). So after I squashed this thing I decided you guy's have to see how big this beast is:

Cool bug! You might want to warn that little old lady to be on the look out for more. Where there's one scorpion there are usually a lot more.

Desert Hairy's are not that bad and actually make pretty good pets, if you're into the creepy crawly types. :) Sting is probably akin to a bee sting.

next time you come across one try putting it in the freezer for a couple of days, then throw him out in the sun and see what happens.

The stuff you see the scorpion on is actually a drywall scrap, I flipped him on to that so I could take him outside for photo's, and disposal. I actually squashed it against some newly laid travertine, much more expensive than carpet:o. It didn't make a mess though, and they will have to mop a few times before the house is ready anyway.:D

When I am done with the appraisal I will be calling her to let her know I saw some bug's, and she may want to get the house sprayed(understatement of the year).

I'don't know but there must be a lot of bugs in Arizona.
However i dig the nature..
Just cut of the last part on a scorpy and never sleep on ground in dessert ; just hammer 4 pools and a wooden frame a feet above ground..

just me 2c survival skills.. hammered in my brain..

Speaking of bugs and Arizona, ever meet one of these critters? They like to crawl onto your face while you're sleeping and...

We get them over here too. Luckily, Chagas disease hasn't made it here yet (I think ).

Never been stung, knock on wood. My wife got stung while at a local water park when she was a kid. She lifted up her foot and it was hanging by the stinger, from her toe:eek::(

Those are cool, my cat a long time ago found one of those and was batting it all around, little did he know one bad move and he was toast. Be careful with those suckers!

Insects creep me out, especially 4-inch ones with big stingers!! Yechhh!!

About the only insects I can stand are praying mantis (manti?). They are truly fascinating!

Hey Shawn. That is a good size scorpion! I haven't seen one that large since I was a kid.

Oh, the memories...:p The small ones are actually more dangerous than the large ones.

We get these huge green praying mantises here in Korea that get to be as long as your hand and look really amazing. They're super aggressive too. If you move your boot or a stick towards them, unlike other bugs that will run away, the mantises here will ATTACK! They're fun to play with, :) but I've heard their actual bite on skin is nasty.

Scorpions glow under a black light, try it, it's pretty cool to see. That's how they're hunted by entomologists.;)

I am not, necessarily, afraid of bugs, in general, but
I got a whole lot of respect for anything with more or less legs than I've got:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::
