Perhaps. Perhaps not. It depends on the maturity (and training) of the folks who wish to be armed.
However, I DO think that "gun-free zones" are an absolutely idiotic idea. All this does is give an armed madman a target rich environment with little chance of being shot themselves.

Don't Panic!
Any one capable of being elected President should on no account be allowed to do the job
Life, Don't talk to me about Life!
The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be.
Anything that is in the world when you're born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works. Anything that's invented between when you're fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Grizzled old reporter responding to screaming young woman reporter at press conference in PA where politician had shot himself in the head at press confrence he called following his conviction, or inditcment. I can't remember which. Anybody rember this one? It was non stop every half an hour in the early days of CNN news. I got to see live feed from satellite as my brother was working at a TV station in Alanta back then. One of the guys made it into a music video of sorts, reversing the brains back into and out of the guys head to the beat. :o
Believe it or not, I'm not really that cynical,or negative of a person. I do find the diversity of ways people respond to stress, shock, and grief interesting in the diversity of it. :) Joe
