What do you think of other knives. Swiss Army, Buck, Gerber, Benchmade, SOG, Shrade, and Leatherman. I like Swiss Army and a couple others. But nothing compares to a spydie.

In the land of knives, Spyderco is king.

In my city it seems that Benchmade is the blade of choice. I can walk into any store that sells knives and will find at least 6 models of Benchmade. One percent of the stores have Spyderco. I guess it depends on your location...

Swiss Army is the ruler of Houston.

I like all the brands you named and CRK&T, Junglee, Kershaw, Ka-Bar, Case & Bulldog, as well. I admit it, I'm a knifeaholic! In our tac knife collection Sydercos rule the roost, and always will. RKBA!

Microtech and Masters of Defense make good knives. I own a Microtech MiniSOCOM that is razor sharp and the detail of the knife is amazing even on the inside, no rough edges - they come at a price though.

SOG makes some nice knives and Cold Steel has some excellent BIG fixed blades. I've owned a few models from both companies. However Spyderco rules!

Rookie,

I have to admit that I am very, very attracted to the SOG Sculptura nowadays, so I might end up buying one even before I buy any other Spydies other than the Chinese Folder.

I like Boker, Wengers, Victorinox, Buck, I love the SwissTech mini-tool (my husband carries one that I gave to him a couple of years ago), Leatherman has proven to be a great multi-tool company, in my own experience (I carry a Micra with my apartment keys and I gave my husband a SuperTool 200 that he carries with him every day). I think they are all there for a reason, some make some things better than others but it is a matter of preference. I do prefer Spyderco for most of my tastes, though. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Each knife maker has something to offer. I have a small collection of Benchmades and Emersons as well as a few customs.

IMO there are some out there that are as good as Spyderco like Benchmade and M.O.D but I have chose to collect Spydies only.I know more about them and you can't do much better at any price.
The (other knives) I buy are mostly case for my sons collection.I buy him one every birthday and xmas,he is 4 yrs old and has 12 knives in his collection.By the time he finishes school he should have a really inpressive collection.
