My girlfriends birthday is coming up, and one of the things I would like to get her is a Spyderco. I know she won't want anything very bulky, so which one should I get her?

Thanks

Chris

As I do not own a native, I cannot speak for it from experience. But I do own two dragonflies, a ladybug, and SS Harpy.
Might I suggest a Stainless Dragonfly? PE of course. This way you can also get it engraved. I think the ss dragonfly is perfect in that it is by no means bulky, carries a classy look, and also packs alot of cutting power.

A second vote for the SS Dragonfly.
Small enough not to be intimidating, classy enough to be an accessory.

Why a pink delica of course. Try John Jesens site- think he still has them.

Get her a cricket she will love it.

A SPYDERCO knife is the most expensive and least effective screwdriver you will ever buy. We do however have the bladestretcher if we need it.... ;)

I gave my girlfriend a pink delica when they first came out with them; maybe 7 years ago??

She has used it non stop and carries it all the time. The tip is bent and the handles are a bit battered, but she loves it. NO-ONE has ever freaked out for her carrying a knife around (even on campus or at the daycare where she worked for a while) 'cause it is pink and they all say "how cute, a *girls* knife".

Second to that, a S.S. Dragonfly PE sounds quite nice and if you had it engraved by a skilled jeweler she could pass it on to your <gulp> granddaughter!

Ladybug PE from Blade Art. Lots of colors, collectable and she can put it on her key chain where she'll have it when she needs it. My wife carries one(SE)and uses it often.

Also consider the necklace mimi-police. It is very cute and usable.

Also, when you go to JJensen's site, ;look at the very bottom of his listings for the perl necklace knife by another brand. These come from one of the same factories that make some of the spydies (i think)are made in over in Japan and they are elegant and come in a jewelry style velvet box. I got one for my daughter and it is very cool.

Do you folks camp? Get her the fixed blade Lum and then you can borrow it from her to fell trees!

A shabira is nice and light and easy opening and slim. Just right for the ladies...

Heck-just get her the catalog for the B-Day from Joyce at SFO and and let her pick what she'll use most.

Big help-right ?

Wow! Excellent suggestions by everyone!

Cricket, Dragonfly, Necklace, Ladybug, Meerkat, Mouse, Navigator, Salsa... many from which to choose!

None too bulky, all way cool in all price ranges.

Well, I just ordered a Mouse for my wife, it's a surprise, but she's made it abundantly clear that that's the one she wants.

-So you have my suggestion.

Dude~ I just got my sister a Pink Delica from John Jensen's web page for $38 bucks. I haven't presented it to her yet, but I know she will enjoy it.

As the others mentioned, you would probably do well to also consider a Mouse. This way, you could have the handle ingraved with something.

May the Force be with you.....

Give her a pe ss dragonfly with you name (heart) her name engraved on the handle. That is what I gave my parents for their anniversary. I also have given several girls blue ladybug's.

I gave my girlfriend a pink Delica for Christmas and she loves it! John Jensen also has Natives w/inlays that might be a nice gift. I got my Delica from Jensen and if you're going to get one from him better hurry he only has a few left.

Chris-

Has she carried a knife before, does she have preferences?

Don't leave the SpyderCard out of the consideration. If she works in the business world where she might not always be wearing clothing with pockets, it works great in a purse and lays flat in one of this impossible tiny suit coat pockets.

If she's a jewelry fiend, what about a Police Model necklace or a small neck knife like a Perrin la Griffe?

I would have to agree with you on that one J Smith.

I agree the catalog would be the best idea.
Let her handle your knives so she can get a better idea of what she likes.

Knife Knut on a shoestring budget.

She has never carried a knife before. She is a graduate student and works at a department store on the weekends. I kind of figured I would get her something like a pink delica or a ladybug (how many different colors did these come in?) The spydercard isn't a bad idea. Thank you very much for all this info.

The FRN native is pretty sexy for a girl, but the cricket is very cool too!

IMO the pink or CF Cricket in PE would be ideal. With her working in a public place they would not raise any eyebrows and they look more like jewelery than knives.
