Hi Stringer - Welcome to the forum.
It was the police model that first introduced me to Spyderco. It's build quality is excellent, ergonomics very good for me, and totally reliable.
I chose the spyderedge model which is not exactly subtle, but is highly effective on heavy cutting tasks. The all steel version is also surprisingly slim and comfortable for all day carry in the waistband. I can't comment on Canadian prices, but I paid equivalent of US$130 seven or eight years ago, a considerable amount at the time and never regretted it - Buy with confidence.

Hi Stringer and Alick. Welcome to the Spyderco forum and thanx for the kind words.

The Police model is a fairly large piece by folder standards. the blade design is basically a "Rescue" style blade with a point. Not much belly, but the serrated version is quite effective at cutting rope, webbing, seat belts, etc.
The plain edge version offer a long cutting edge.

The G10 version with it's flat grind might be considered a more modern version, but the original stainless version is quite the classic and is still far more popular than the G10.
