Hi all,
I've been absent from a lot of happenings in the forums of late. With work and family commitments time seems to have escaped me and I do apologise for not contributing to my regular Picture Thread. I keep promising but not delivering.
The big news which I have had to keep secret for a little while now is that......
My wife and I are expecting our 6th child !!! :D :eek::eek::eek:
With my 5 daughters now the 6th one was a surprise, even to us. Here's to hoping it's a boy. However, and statistically speaking with 5 kids already I should've already had a boy. So it looks like it might be another daughter. Which brings me to my engraved Pink Delicas....time to invest in another one :)
To celebrate - I am going to give away one of my prized possesions, a very slightly used (few times) C78PSBK - Native III CE
To win, all you have to do is guess the estimated date of arrival of the baby. I have been given the date and my wife has given birth to all our kids ON THE EXACT DATE !!!! (Amazing woman - no drugs, no painkillers, no induction, no slicing open). First one to correctly guess the date gets the Native :p. Anyone and everyone qualifies to enter. Just make the post (1 entry per person please)

Congratulations Datan! I though I was crazy to have two, but six!
All the best to you and your family. Kids are a joy!

Thanks for the giveaway!

Congrats! I'll go april 21st.
In the world now 6 kids is a lot. It wasn't that long ago that was common, and having more kids was not uncommon. My ex mother in law ( in Ireland) had 11 kids ( that survived). One of her sisters had over 20 in her life.
They fed and raised these kids on a lot less money than we would imagine doing now, often in small two or three bedroom houses if they were lucky. I believe the living room was used as a bedroom, and the kids ate in shifts.
We tried to have more than one, but at least I did get one healthy, normal, good person for a son. A true blessing. He's 21 now and moved out.
He remembered to come over to spend time with me on my b/day today. Really cheered me up.
Congrats and good luck Daniel & family, Joe

Congrats Daniel! I'll guess May 6th.
Daniel,
Congratulations. Children are blessing.
Do not rush to engrave one more pink Delica, may be you will have to engrave something with black handle (Persian sounds good). If you will have a boy, your girls will spoil him bad.

Hey Daniel, congrats my man:cool::cool:
However I won't join the contest because the Native is the ONLY Spydie I don't like. Serrated or not:o
Well, if you get a son it will have 6 mothers then:eek::D
Daniel, congrats!
A lot have been said about kids and numbers, now and in the past.
For past few generations it is very unusual to go above 2, at least in this country. You are brave and very happy man:)
Let it be healthy and happy child.
When it comes to dates... I'd like to pick end of April (April 21, 2009) even though logic tells me mid-May makes more sense.
P.S. Absolutely loved your pink engraved Delicas, but don't rush yet ;) for next one.

My best wishes to your wife, and to you.
My fiancee says that daughters ADORE their fathers (she was the eldest)
Her birthday is March 6th, so that is going to be my guess.
I'm very happy for all of you!

Congrats Daniel! I will guess 16 April as it's my birthday. The real question is if its a boy which Delica do you get engraved? Blue ZDP???
Araneae,
Blue for boys, pink for girls :) Blue ZDP D4 will be the ideal match to the engraved Pink D4s. Unless it's another girl. So I better stock up on both of those.
Keep the guesses coming guys. I won't say just yet whether there has been a close guess or not. Will leave it a bit longer. Closest one wins, unless one hits the nail on the head.

OK guys,
As mentioned before 2 members here have guess exactly the same distance apart from the ETA of birth. I can give one last little clue..... those guesses are quite close :p
Keep guessing. Someone will hit it on the head, or get the closest. Don't want a tied situation as I only have 1 Native III to give away :)
So close....

Wow, congratulations. Your 6th will make you 2x more prolific than I, and God Bless you, sir. Very late retirement for you..... but well worth it, I'm sure. Our third was a shocking surprise, and a boy! Good Luck.
Congrats ! And good luck !
I've got NO idea what date to pick, so... 29th of March would be nice. My daughter turns 1 then .

Joe,
It is a great knife, I love Natives and find them to be a great design for utility work. I have used it slightly. The serrations on mine doesn't seem to be overly aggresive like it seems to be on some other Spydies. Maybe it just needs a touch up on the Sharpmker? I'll leave that to you :)
I prefer PE blades, but find the SE or CE ones to be very handy for rope/string/ harvesting of herbs in the garden :p
I will keep everyone updated especially as things get closer to the date of birth.

Thank you Anthony. I've wanted to try one of these since they came out. I've always had my limited funds tied up in more important things I guess.
To be honest I'm just as excited about Daniel's next child. I always wanted a bunch. I did get lucky enough to have one. My son Zach, now 21, is a real good person, which is important to me. More important to me than him being rich, or powerfull.
I'm very fortunate in that respect. Hopefully in a few years he will get married and make me a grandpa. :) I can wait a few more years for that though. I still feel young inside. Joe

Daniel, I just got the knife you sent today.
I wanted to thank you for this knife. It's in excellent shape and I plan on using it and carrying it from this moment on. It gets sharpened, and Joe'ified later today.
I really like this. I can understand why it was recieved so well. I've never had anything but the golden natives in 440V, and S30V. I should have bought one of these before.
I wanted to thank you again Daniel. I'll always think about you and your family whenever I look at this one.
Without being overly dramatic about it I'd like to say your a class guy, and deserve that beautiful family you have. Thanks again, Joe

Thanks Joe for the very kind words.
Knife is a gift for grabs to everyone here on SPyderco Forums who have been so kind to me always. Glad it went to a guy who can appreciate it more than I did. As I collected more and more, my EDC knives got less and less time in the pocket, and that particular Native only saw a few days worth of pocket and occasional use. So please sharpend it up nice and shiny and using the living heck out of it.
I will keep everyone informed as and when I find out more about the baby. At this stage we have decided to keep the sex of the baby secret. We didn't want to know the sex of any of our previous 5 either as we felt it took away a bit of the mystery and the magical announcement when the baby is born of "Congratulations...it's a ... " :p
Thanks everyone for participating in this giveaway and sharing in my news.
