One issue that springs to mind is cleanliness of the bezel area.
One of the nice things about a Spyderco's is they are mechaniclly simple
in design allowing easy cleaning of the knife after using it for food or
other "messy" work. The area around a bezel would be a b!tich to clean.

Hi Sharp1,
Have you tried a Cobra Hood yet? I think it provides the extra opening security you are looking for with less complexity. The bezel does sound worthy of a concept knife. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Sharp, How about a machined to fit bezel that can
be installed aftermarket?? Got to thinking about this
and you're right some folk's would enjoy it.
The bezel could be made to thread into an opposite half
allowing the movement you suggest to take place on opening.
The really great thing about an aftermarket piece is , providing
someone would make it, is that it wouldn't matter what Spyderco
you owned........just fine one to fit the hole of your knife.
Would also address the cleaning issue I mentioned. Plus they could
be made with whatever "Dress up" features the buyer would want.
Sound interesting???
