This is for you light gurus on here. i have a stingerxt from when i was a cop about 9 years ago. here is a link to it.
http://www.copquest.com/10-2010.htm

it has been just sitting in my back porch collecting dust. the battery barely holds a charge anymore. my question is can this be made into a regular battery flashlight C or 123, something like that..i looked it up and i see that they have an upgrade LED light for it as well which would make the regular batteries last longer. if not what is the going price for this as it is, i was planning on just selling it if i cant upgrade it (not here, on candle forums, i just dont have a clue, that's all) thanks

edit: well C batteries are too big and 123 are too small so those are out..lol...aslo if there is a battery solution besides buying a new rechargeable one what is the best led upgrade? thanks again

Is the rechargeable battery replaceable? Can you buy a new one? If you want to go all-out, you may be able to have a new battery pack custom made by a CPF member.

For LED upgrades there is the Malkoffs that fit the Surefire C type lights (Centurion, etc.) which is now to become a production item and not as much custom, they seem to have a great reputation. Not sure if any of the Surefire products will fit, either might just drop in or you may need to do some home style machine work. I am guessing though that a Malkoff is going to be spendy, might even be close to a $50. I've had great luck with Surefire stuff. Do you know anyone with some Surefire gear you can measure and try fit?

An issue that you may bump into is voltage, keep in mind a CR123 is 3 volts versus the roughly 1.4/1.5 of an alkaline. If you get 3 CR123's in there and it used to run at 6 volts, well, you get the idea. I've heard of people making a sleeve to hold the CR123's to keep them from rattling around in larger bodied lights.

There is some great info on the Lighthound website regarding the new Pila rechargables and gives some great insight to problems with voltages and different cells, and the size of the newer rechargables.

Hope this helps abit, I think you're on the right track with the Candlepower forums, am sure those folks will be way more help than me.

The light he has is a Streamlight, not a SureFire.

I'd suggest getting a Ultrahead kit and a battery replacement: http://www.copquest.com/10-3300.htm

Well I guess that settles that. Did you want to replace it?

The light he has is a Streamlight, not a SureFire.

I know the light he had was a Streamlight. I can read. He also mentioned about other LED upgrades and sometimes you can "hotrod" flashlights with other parts besides Streamlight.

Thanks Tony:p

I'm hoping it won't melt:D

Will run it on Li-ions and use a Welch Allyn bi-pin bulb.

If it melts I'll get a new lens for it and solder a led drop in for it..
