My first attempt at adding scales to my M4 Mule. The Macadamia Nut wood came from the log in the first picture. The Loveless Fasteners were given to me by my friend. It could have used a little more sanding but since this was my first time doing this and I didn't epoxy the scales just incase I screwed up it be easier to change it later.

Kev-Man,
That looks great. That is sure some neat looking wood. I didn't know the trees got that large. That's a good chunk you got there.
Very nice work. I like the wood a lot.
How do "Loveless Fasteners" attach? They look neat.

Aloha Kev-Man, Nice job! Does alot of Mac-nut wood display such lacing or did you get lucky while doing "yard" work?

Thanks all for the comments. I did forget to mention that Quickbeam's tutorial gave me some good directions.
The log is about 12" in diameter I've seen Mac Nut trees almost 3' in diamater. The log been sitting for about a year but its not fully dry but I couldn't wait. I got a few pieces cut that I am drying. The one under the knive is about a 2x3 size and is sitting ontop of a Monkey Pod Log.

Its a threaded ferrule on each side which you just tighten a screw inside. Looks cool but when I change the scale I think I am going with just a nickel or stainless look. I am not too much into the gold.

All the Mac Nut trees that I have seen cut has that lace pattern in it its just you have to cut the stock right to see it. If you look at the piece under the knive you can see the lace on one face and not on the other. The cut has to be pretty much parallel with the cracks in the following picture.

Beautiful wood.
A bit too thick for me, though.
