yes I have been turned off to the outlet.... the have higher prices than other providers that I could find over the web. i have only ordered so many knives in my time, and all from the outlet.... but i have found the exact same or better for less elsewhere.. has this happened to anyone else?

The outlet is a great place for friendly, helpful people and a pretty deep selection, but I have to agree--prices suck. I bought a Starmate there for abt $135,... got a second one (numbered no less) at a gun show for $95.

It was explained as being a deliberate policy, so that independant outlets would stock Spyderco's. If Spyderco sold their knives for less than anyone else, then nobody else would stock them.

It is good buisiness sense and is common in many industries.

Mind you, SFO often have knives and shapening stones that are hard to find anywhere else. Also if you are in a hurry SFO is by far the fastest supplier I have found.

Agreed. Spyderco wouldn't rip-off other dealers. Most of the knives at the SFO are sold at manufacturer's suggested retail prices.. Which is fair.. Besides that, the outlet also retails knives from other manufacturers..

I agree with yog. Sure there's plenty of sources with lower prices but I doubt there is much better service than SFO.
