Someone got me a pair of Appalachian Trail knives in a blister pak several years ago. I recently took them out and found that they weren't that bad except for blade centering and ease of opening. I like the clips as they are folded over so that the knives ride really deep in my pocket and the 2 screw anchoring system is sturdy. I couldn't figure out why one pivot washer is wider in diameter than the other. It just dawned on me that it is used to prevent the liner lock from traveling past the locking surface of the pivot end of the blade. Pictures aren't great but maybe you can see what I mean.

That's actually a pretty clever way to make a cheap knife reliable. Good shortcut, I say.

We sell that brand at the big box home improvement store I'm a manager at. I might "accidentally" open a package and take a closer look. They would never knock my Spydie out of my pocket, but I would be able to give them a better recommendation to customers.
